Ítem Acceso abierto Factors that determine adherence to pharmacological treatment in patients with hypertension(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017) Cerna Saenz, Karina De Fátima; Vela Reyes, Rosa Lili; Gómez Gonzales, Walter EdgarObjective: To establish the determining factors for adherence to pharmacological treatment in patients with hypertension. Materials and Methods: Systematic reviews are an observational, descriptive, and analytical study design that synthesizes the results of multiple primary studies. They are crucial in evidence-based nursing for their rigorous methodology in identifying relevant studies to address specific clinical practice questions. Results: It was found that psychosocial factors were present in all of the studies (10 articles), with the most prevalent and significant factor being the doctor-patient relationship, followed by patient motivation regarding their health and their perception of support networks. Most studies considered the doctor-patient relationship as very important when addressing a disease. They affirm that having a good relationship and cordial treatment with the doctor is beneficial for adhering to therapeutic regimens. Conclusions: The studies show that psychosocial factors, such as the doctor-patient relationship, motivation, and patient interest in their health, play a key role in adherence to hypertension treatment. The belief in the benefit of the treatment, sufficient and appropriate education, and the perception of adequate social and family support networks are all significant factors. Emotional stress, complex prescriptions, polypharmacy, and less effective blood pressure control are also linked to treatment adherence.
