    Dexamethasone versus prednisone for vomiting and its acceptance during acute asthma exacerbations in children attending the emergency department

    Objective: Systematize the evidence on the adverse effects of dexamethasone compared to prednisone for the treatment of children with asthma attacks who attend the emergency service. Materials and Methods: Systematic reviews were used as an observational and retrospective research design, which synthesizes the results of multiple primary investigations, being an essential part of medicine and its related areas, such as nursing, and is based on evidence considering its Rigorous methodology, identifying relevant studies to answer specific questions of clinical practice. Results: In the data search, the adverse effects of dexamethasone were examined compared to prednisone for the treatment of children with asthma attacks who go to the emergency service. Of the total of 09 articles, 08 of them show that dexamethasone presents fewer reactions. adverse effects compared to prednisone for the treatment of children with asthma attacks presenting to the emergency department, patients who received dexamethasone were less likely to experience vomiting in the department, this is It is related to the fact that it is more palatable than prednisone, which allows complete administration of the medication and reduces emergency readmissions, also highlighting the lower cost (10-17). Conclusions: Dexamethasone presents fewer adverse reactions compared to prednisone for the treatment of children with asthma attacks who attend the emergency service, patients who received dexamethasone were less likely to experience vomiting in the service, this is related to the fact that it is more palatable than prednisone, which allows complete administration of the medication and reduces emergency readmissions.
