    Effectiveness of early goal-directed therapy versus usual care to reduce mortality in patients with severe sepsis

    Material and Methods: Systematic observational and retrospective review, with critical reading and using the GRADE evaluation method in order to identify the degree of evidence of the articles published in several databases: Scielo, PubMed, Sciencedirect, Epistemonikos, Researchgate. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed: 90% (n= 9/10) are meta-analyses, 10% (n= 1/10) are randomized controlled trials and were carried out in the countries of China (40%), then the United States. United States (20%), England (20%), Italy (10%) and Iran (10%). Results: 60% indicate that early goal-directed therapy is similar in effectiveness to usual care in reducing mortality in patients with severe sepsis. 40% indicate that early goal-directed therapy is more effective than usual care in reducing mortality in cases of severe sepsis. Conclusion: Early goal-directed therapy has similar efficacy to usual care in reducing mortality in cases of severe sepsis.
