Ítem Acceso abierto (Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-02-05) Vargas Duran, Karen Gisella; Vergara Pinto, Brenda RoxanaIt is important to define the expression "oral health-related quality of life"; one of its many definitions mentions the impact that oral health has on the different activities that individuals carry out daily. The elderly are affected by various oral diseases, with tooth loss being the most common; moreover, they are a vulnerable age group in society. Therefore, the following objective was proposed: To determine the relationship between quality of life and oral health in users with removable partial dentures. The type of study conducted was observational, cross-sectional, and prospective; the sample consisted of 99 elderly individuals (PAMs), selected through probabilistic sampling. In the data collection, identification instruments were applied, including the CPOD index, IOHS, prosthesis condition index, and the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-EDENT). The bivariate analysis was performed using the non-parametric Kendall’s Tau-b test for categorical and ordinal variables, with a p ≤ 0.05 and a 95% confidence interval. Our results show that 44.4% of the PAMs have regular oral health. The quality of life, as perceived by the PAMs, was good in 54.5%. Kendall’s Tau-b test yielded = -0.262 with a p = 0.004, showing a relationship between the two variables (quality of life and oral health status). Thus, it is concluded that quality of life is correlated with the oral health status of PAMs.Ítem Acceso abierto Anxiety level of patients during dental care in times of Covid 19 at the Cerdent clinic - Miraflores headquarters San Antonio 2020(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-05-15) Huapaya Chalco, Meylin Alexandra; Vergara Pinto, Brenda RoxanaDental anxiety is a condition significantly affecting the population, manifesting as fear, worry, unease, etc., due to past experiences that hinder routine activities such as seeking dental care, leading to treatment abandonment, fear of dentists, and more. This study was conducted to determine whether students at the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener (UPNW) are affected by stress. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an individual's mental health can be influenced by three basic factors: social, psychological, and biological, whose particular qualities determine a specific lifestyle for each person. The objective of this study was to assess emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and low personal accomplishment in Dentistry students at UPNW. This was an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, and prospective study carried out at UPNW. The study population consisted of students from the Professional Academic School of Dentistry who were in their eighth, ninth, and tenth cycles, totaling 164 students. The last cycles were chosen as they are considered to have a heavier academic load, as eighth and ninth cycle students are in the comprehensive clinical stage, and tenth cycle students face academic challenges outside their institution, competing with students from other universities in various hospitals. This type of competition can often lead to stress. Data collection utilized two instruments: a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaire, which is globally used to assess this syndrome. For bio-statistical analysis, the Chi-square test was applied. The results showed that 20.1% of the population exhibited emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and low personal accomplishment, while 79.9% showed none of these symptoms.Ítem Acceso abierto Evaluation of the location of the mandibular lingula and mandibular foramen with respect to the lower occlusal plane and the anterior border of the ramus of the mandible during the period 2017-2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-08-15) Meléndez Vela, Anita Milagros; Vergara Pinto, Brenda RoxanaMaterials and Methods: In this observational, analytical, cross-sectional study, 274 digital panoramic radiographs were analyzed, belonging to patients aged 6 to 45 years.
