    Interacciones medicamentosas potenciales en prescripciones médicas con polifarmacia del área de Medicina Interna en los pabellones 2-I y 3-I del Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza Cercado de Lima, 2021

    The objective of this research was to determine the characteristics of potential drug-drug interactions (PDDIs) in medical prescriptions with polypharmacy in the internal medicine area (wards 2-I and 3-I) of the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital. The study was descriptive, cross-sectional, with a quantitative approach, and was conducted from November to December 2021. A total of 220 medical prescriptions were analyzed using the UpToDate and Drugs.com databases to identify potential PDDIs. A total of 1,270 PDDIs were found and characterized. The interactions were pharmacodynamic (78.27%) and pharmacokinetic (21.63%). By severity, 10.31% were minor, 74.65% were moderate, 15.04% were major, and none were contraindicated. The most frequent medication combinations were dimenhydrinate/tramadol (32) and enoxaparin/losartan (32). The most frequent therapeutic groups were cardiovascular medications (18.3%) and gastrointestinal medications (14.3%). In conclusion, 95.5% of medical prescriptions with polypharmacy presented potential drug-drug interactions.
