    Effectiveness of a nursing intervention program in the care of elderly adults residing in nursing homes to prevent unnecessary emergency hospitalizations

    Objective: To systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of a nursing intervention program for elderly care in nursing homes to prevent unnecessary emergency hospitalizations. Materials and Methods: An observational and retrospective systematic review of national and international research articles was conducted, obtained through searches in the following databases: Epistemonikos, PubMed, Elsevier, SciELO, ScienceDirect, and Open Access. These articles were selected for having undergone a critical reading, using the GRADE evaluation to identify their level of evidence. Results: It was observed that, when selecting systematic reviews, the following results were found: 30% (3/10) correspond to the United States (U.S.), 40% (4/10) to Australia, 10% (1/10) to Finland, 10% (1/10) to Singapore, and 10% (1/10) to South Korea. Conclusions: 50% of the reviewed evidence demonstrates the effectiveness of nursing intervention programs for elderly care in nursing homes to prevent unnecessary emergency hospitalizations.
