Ítem Acceso abierto The effectiveness of the closed suction drainage system to promote the healing process in post-operative traumatic patients(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-01-27) Estrella Quito, Sandra Janet; Yupanqui Ccochachi, Gregoria; Rivera Lozada de Bonilla, OrianaObjective: To analyze and systematize the effectiveness of the closed suction drainage system in promoting the healing process in post-traumatic surgical patients. Materials and Methods: In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, corresponding to 100% (10/10). Of these, 60% (6/10) were quantitative and 40% (4/10) qualitative; and regarding the study design, 40% (4/10) were systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials, respectively, 10% (1/10) were meta-analyses, and 10% (1/10) was a prospective randomized study. Results: According to the evidence obtained from 100% (10/10) of the articles reviewed, the closed suction drainage system to promote the healing process in traumatic surgical patients is not effective, as 60% (6/10) of the articles showed that patients require blood transfusion, and 40% (4/10) showed an association with wound infection. Conclusions: It is concluded that 100% (10/10) of the articles indicate that the closed suction drainage system is not effective in promoting the healing process in traumatic surgical patients, as it is associated with a higher need for blood transfusion, increases the number of patients requiring blood transfusion, and shows no significant differences in the range of motion and preoperative knee swelling. Moreover, no significant differences were found in hospital stay, wound hematoma incidence, wound dehiscence, or deep vein thrombosis.Ítem Acceso abierto The efficacy of the closed suction drainage system in favoring the healing process in postoperative trauma patients.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-01-27) Estrella Quito, Sandra Janet; Yupanqui Ccochachi, Gregoria; Rivera Lozada de Bonilla, OrianaMaterials and Methods: A systematic observational and retrospective review was conducted, with a search restricted to full-text articles. The bibliographic search algorithm followed the PICO model. The selected articles were subjected to analysis using the evaluation of validity, quality, strength of recommendation, scientific evidence, usefulness of findings, and ethical aspects of the research. Results: A total of 10 articles were selected, with 50% (5/10) corresponding to China, and 10% (1/10) corresponding to the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, and Saudi Arabia, respectively. Additionally, 60% (6/10) of the studies were quantitative and 40% (4/10) were qualitative. The closed suction drainage system for promoting the healing process in trauma patients was not effective as it was associated with a higher need for blood transfusions. Conclusions: The evidence shows that the closed suction drainage system for promoting the healing process in trauma patients was not effective because it was associated with a greater need for blood transfusions. There is a need for dressing reinforcement in wounds without drainage due to ecchymosis.
