Publicación Acceso abierto Polimedicación y adherencia al tratamiento antihipertensivo en adultos mayores que acuden al centro de atención primaria III San Isidro, Lima 2025(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-08-14) Yuyali Sulca, Jorge Luis; Collantes Llacza, Adela MarleneObjective: This investigation fulfills the objective of determining the relationship of polypharmacy with adherence to antihypertensive treatment in older adults who attend San Isidro´s primary care center III. Methodology: A questionnaire is used to evaluate polypharmacy and the test "the Adherence in Chronic Diseases Scale" (ACDS) to measure adherence that were applied to a sample of 331 patients from the Primary Care Center III San Isidro, Lima, with the objective of obtaining results through a non-experimental design of a descriptive correlational type. Results: It was found that there is a significant inverse relationship between polypharmacy and adherence to antihypertensive treatment with a p value of 0.000. Regarding the specific objectives, it was found that there is a significant inverse relationship between; Polypharmacy and adherence to the dosage regimen, polypharmacy and self-adjustment of medication dose, both with a p value of 0.000, polypharmacy and patient attitude with a p value of 0.002, and between polypharmacy and physician-patient communication with a p value of 0.017. Conclusions: There is a significant inverse relationship between polypharmacy and adherence to antihypertensive treatment (p = 0.000 < 0.050; r = - 0.280) in older adults attending the San Isidro Primary Care Center III, Lima.
