The research followed a quantitative, correlational approach with a non-experimental cross-sectional design, using the Family Cohesion and Flexibility Evaluation Scale – FACES III, adapted by Bazo et al. (2016), and the students' grade records. The results showed no significant correlation between family functioning and academic achievement (rho = 0.09; p > 0.17). Therefore, it was concluded that there is no direct relationship between family functioning and academic performance in these students.
