Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge and Attitudes about COVID-19 in Norbert Wiener University Dental Students in 2020.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-12-07) Torres Hastahuamán, Carla Sandra; Céspedes Porras, JacquelineObjective: The aim of this study was to determine the level of knowledge and attitudes towards COVID-19 among dental students at a private university during the pandemic. Methodology: A quantitative approach was used, applying a descriptive and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 256 preclinical and clinical students who were administered a questionnaire virtually via Google Forms. Prior to its application, the instrument was validated through expert judgment and a pilot test, achieving a Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.81. Results: The findings indicated that 67.2% of the students had a moderate level of knowledge about COVID-19. Regarding their attitudes towards COVID-19, although 84.8% felt more likely to get infected and transmit the virus to their families, 78.5% believed that COVID-19 had impacted their university education, 92.6% felt the need to acquire more knowledge on the subject, and 79.7% reported positive attitudes towards the impact of the disease on their educational and professional life. Conclusion: The majority of the students displayed a moderate level of knowledge about the disease and reported positive attitudes towards the impact of the disease on their educational and professional life.
