Ítem Acceso abierto Influence of vitamin D3 in patients with periodontitis who attend private consultation, Arequipa 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-05-04) Ampuero Ramirez, Arianne Audrey; Huayllas Paredes, BetzabéObjective: To determine the influence of Vitamin D3 in patients with periodontitis attending a private consultation in Arequipa, Peru. Methodology: This study is deductive, quantitative, and applied. The study involved 40 patients aged 18 to 60 years who visited the Dentistry service at the Regional Military Hospital of Arequipa. The patients were divided into two groups: 20 patients diagnosed with periodontitis and 20 patients without periodontitis serving as the control group. A periodontogram and Vitamin D3 analysis were required for each patient. Results: Periodontal patients were characterized by having lower Vitamin D3 concentrations compared to the controls, and women were more prone to periodontitis as Vitamin D3 levels decreased. Periodontal patients tended to be older compared to the controls. There was no significant relationship between sex and the presence of periodontal disease. The majority of periodontal patients were in stage I, with the smallest percentage in stage IV. Conclusion: There is an association between Vitamin D3 levels and periodontitis in patients who attended the private consultation in Arequipa, Peru.Ítem Acceso abierto Levels of empathic orientation and its association with family and academic sociodemographic factors in students from the fifth to the tenth cycle of dentistry at the Norbert Wiener Private University(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-05-09) Espinoza Cotrina, Mishel Gandy; Bamonde Segura, Leyla KatherineObjective: To determine the levels of empathetic orientation and its association with sociodemographic, family, and academic factors in students from the fifth to the tenth cycle of Dentistry at the Norbert Wiener Private University. Materials and methods: The approach was quantitative, with a hypothetical-deductive method, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and prospective. The study involved 283 students. The technique used was a survey, and questionnaires were applied and validated by expert judgment. Results: It was found that the global empathetic orientation variable was 84.5% of students, with a medium level. Regarding the academic factor, 72.2% of the students did not choose Dentistry as their first option, and 83% did not fail any subject more than once. On the other hand, significant differences were found regarding marital status and academic semester in relation to empathy. There was also a significant relationship between choosing Dentistry as the first option and empathy. Conclusion: There is a relationship between some sociodemographic and academic factors, but no significant relationship with the family aspect.Ítem Acceso abierto Perception of aesthetic parameters of the smile in undergraduate dentistry students and patients of the Norbert Wiener University in Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-02) Feijoo Mascaro, Claudia Cecilia; Guevara Sotomayor, Juan CésarObjective: To compare the perception of aesthetic smile parameters in dental undergraduate students and patients at the University of Norbert Wiener in Lima, 2023. Methodology: A basic study with a quantitative approach and a non-experimental design. The population consisted of 119 participants, including 35 patients and 84 dental students. The study employed a questionnaire to collect data, which was sent to students via their institutional emails through Google Forms and administered in person to patients at the UPNW Dental Center. Results: It was determined that there is no significant difference in the perception of aesthetic smile parameters between dental undergraduate students and UPNW patients (p=0.532). Conclusion: Both dental undergraduate students and UPNW patients have similar perceptions of smile aesthetics, meaning that both groups tend to value the evaluated aesthetic parameters similarly, such as gingival contour, lip line, and dental proportion.Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between the level of knowledge and preventive attitudes in human papillomavirus infection in adolescent mothers of the Sangarara Health Center from January to June 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-10-26) Saavedra Estrada, Angela Elizabeth; Ayala Peralta, Félix DasioObjective: To describe the relationship between the level of knowledge and preventive attitudes regarding human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in adolescent mothers at the Sangarara Health Center during the period from January to June 2021. Materials and methods: An observational, prospective, cross-sectional, and analytical study. A total of 132 adolescent mothers who attended the Sangarara Health Center from January to June 2021 were enrolled. Results: The descriptive and inferential results of both variables show a low knowledge level and poor preventive attitude in 18.9%, a medium knowledge level and regular attitude in 65.9%, and a high knowledge level with good attitude in 15.2%. However, the p-value (p=0.000) is statistically significant between the knowledge level and preventive attitude regarding HPV infection in adolescent mothers at the Sangarara Health Center. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between the level of knowledge and preventive attitudes regarding HPV infection in adolescent mothers treated at the Sangarara Health Center.Ítem Acceso abierto Risk factors for postpartum depression in adolescents, primiparous women and single women(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-02-08) Zamudio Ildefonso, Laura Sofía; Marín Guevara, Leticia GloriaThe objective of this research is to identify the scientific evidence regarding risk factors for postpartum depression in adolescents, primiparous women, and single mothers. The study design was a qualitative systematic review. In the study area, an exhaustive and thorough search was conducted on different academic platforms such as Scielo, ScienceDirect, Dialnet, Google Scholar, among others, where various bibliographic sources related to the topic "Risk factors for postpartum depression in adolescents, primiparous women, and single mothers" were collected. The results from a total of 30 scientific articles revealed that 15 articles indicated the participants were adolescent mothers. Additionally, 13 publications referred to single puerperal women, and 9 publications mentioned the participants were primiparous mothers. The conclusions reached in this study show that the most common risk factor for postpartum depression in adolescent mothers is the lack of partner support. For primiparous mothers, "extreme ages" and "incomplete schooling" were more common risk factors. The most common risk factor for postpartum depression in single mothers was "unplanned pregnancy."
