    Factores socioeconómicos y automedicación con corticoides durante la pandemia COVID-19 en las personas que asisten a boticas “Señor Cautivo” de febrero a julio. Lima 2021

    The present research aimed to determine the socioeconomic factors and self-medication with corticosteroids during the COVID-19 pandemic among people attending the pharmacies “Señor Cautivo.” Methodology: Hypothetical–deductive, cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach, on a sample of 340 people. Results: 72.65% of respondents reported self-medicating, and the reasons for self-medication were: symptoms did not seem serious (44.53%), limited access to health services (27.13%), and due to symptoms such as body pain (30.36%). The frequency of self-medication with corticosteroids was 28.74% for dexamethasone. Regarding social characteristics, 38.24% were between 30 and 49 years old, 42.35% were female, and 28.24% had completed higher technical education. Self-medication was carried out upon the suggestion of pharmacy staff (34.01%), and the most frequently used information source was social media (34.12%). Regarding economic characteristics, 44.41% belonged to the middle economic level, 50.88% were employed, and 25.59% had ESSALUD insurance. Conclusion: It was determined that self-medication is high and that socioeconomic factors influence this practice, with dexamethasone being the most frequently used corticosteroid.

    Nivel de conocimiento y actitud frente a la automedicacion con corticoides en los pacientes que acuden a la farmacia Santa Lucia – Huaycán. Lima 2021

    The objective of this research was to evaluate the level of knowledge and attitude toward self-medication with corticosteroids among patients visiting the Santa Lucia pharmacy in Huaycán, Lima, in 2021. Methodology: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional, and prospective study using a questionnaire as the data collection instrument. The study sample consisted of 384 patients. Results: The level of knowledge about self-medication with corticosteroids showed that 77% had a high level of knowledge, 14% had a medium level, and 9% had no knowledge. Regarding the attitude toward self-medication, 88% had a very unfavorable attitude, 6% had an unfavorable attitude, and 6% had a favorable attitude. Conclusion: It was confirmed that patients visiting the Santa Lucia pharmacy in Huaycán have a very high level of knowledge (79%) and a very unfavorable attitude.
