Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of a physical activity intervention to reduce sarcopenia in elderly adults(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-07-14) Mendoza Cuya, Rosario del Pilar; Garate Campos, Sammy Katherine; Matta Solis, Hernán HugoObjective: Systematize the evidence of the effectiveness of a physical activity intervention to reduce sarcopenia in the elderly Materials and Methods: Searches for Systematic Reviews were carried out in EBSCOhost, Scielo, PubMed, Science Direct, Lilacs and Epistemonikos, These documents were then subjected to a critical reading to subsequently analyze the quality of the methodology according to the CASPE scale. After analyzing the 10 scientific articles, it is evident that 10% (n=1/10) are systematic reviews and meta-analysis, 70% (n=7/10) are systematic reviews, 10% (n=1/10) are meta-analysis and 10% (n=1/10) is a randomized clinical trial. These studies come from the countries of Spain (40%), Costa Rica (10%), United States (10%), France (10%), Australia (10%), China (10%), Japan (10%) . Result: Of the selected articles, 100% (10/10) indicate that physical activity is beneficial in reducing the effects of sarcopenia in the elderly. We also have that these scientific articles mention that more studies are necessary They can propose an anti-sarcopenia strategy, determining a group of exercises that can reduce adverse events related to this disease. There is an article that tells us that physical activity in combination with nutritional interventions could improve results. Conclusions: In 10/10 documents it is evident that physical activity in older adults reduces sarcopenia and other related events, which will increase their physical capabilities and improve quality of life.
