Ítem Acceso abierto Post-extraction alveolar healing in Oryctolagus cuniculus with the use of Croton lechleri and the Perio-Aid® bioadhesive gel.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-05-24) Sudario Aguero, Katerin Stefany; Ascanoa Olazo, Jimmy AntonioObjective: To evaluate the alveolar healing efficacy post-extraction of Croton lechleri compared to Perio·Aid® bioadhesive gel in Oryctolagus cuniculus. Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of 30 rabbits prepared for experimentation, divided into two groups (A and B): 15 rabbits were treated with Croton lechleri tincture applied to the sockets of their lower incisors, and another 15 rabbits received Perio·Aid® bioadhesive gel in the same sockets (Group B). The rabbits were sacrificed by decapitation under deep anesthesia in groups of 10 on days 3, 7, and 21 post-surgery. Five alveoli per treatment were sectioned sagittally and evaluated under a microscope. Results: At 3 days, Perio·Aid® bioadhesive gel exhibited significantly greater inflammatory infiltration. At 7 days, Croton lechleri tincture promoted greater inflammatory infiltration. At 21 days, Perio·Aid® bioadhesive gel significantly stimulated the presence of osteoclasts (p=0.035) and osteoblasts (p=0.004), which was similar to Croton lechleri regarding osteoblasts (p=0.004). Conclusion: Croton lechleri showed similar healing efficacy to Perio·Aid® bioadhesive gel at 3, 7, and 21 days post-extraction, and both products accelerated the healing process.
