Ítem Acceso abierto Validity and safety of the results of the qualitative method of serum C-reactive protein, in patients treated in a particular clinic in Lima, 2018(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-06-16) Meneses Lazón, Alejandro Santiago; Torres Lara, Angel Adolfo; Sandoval Vegas, Miguel HernánThe most commonly used acute-phase infection or inflammation indicator is C-reactive protein. The most common technique for determining this indicator is the Latex method. The objective of this study was to determine the levels of validity and safety for this test by evaluating the values of these indicators (validity and safety) in a sample of 129 patients treated in a private clinic in Lima in 2018, through a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective study. The results for these indicators were evaluated in comparison with C-reactive protein results by turbidimetry to subsequently determine the Sensitivity and Specificity values for validity and Positive and Negative Predictive Values for safety. The results found sensitivity between 61% and 100%, specificity of 100%, a positive predictive value of 100%, and a negative predictive value ranging between 82% and 100%. It was concluded that the results of the qualitative C-reactive protein test are valid and safe.
