Publicación Acceso abierto Efecto antidepresivo del extracto etanólico de las hojas de Annona cherimola Mill “chirimoya” en ratones albinos(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-08-29) Mestanza Cordova, Jhon Anderson; Paez Huaynates, Heyde Norma; Ramos Jaco, Antonio GuillermoThe objective of this study was to evaluate the antidepressant effect of the ethanolic extract of Annona cherimola Mill "cherimoya" leaves in albino mice. Methodology: A solubility test and a preliminary qualitative phytochemical analysis were performed to determine the secondary metabolites. To demonstrate the antidepressant activity, the tail suspension test was used in 35 mice divided into 5 groups: control, placebo, 10 mg/kg, 20 mg/kg and 30 mg/kg of the ethanolic extract of Annona cherimola Mill (cherimoya) leaves. The plant sample was 1 kg of cherimoya leaves collected in the province of Huarochirí, Peru. Results: The ethanolic extract of Annona cherimola Mill (cherimoya) leaves was shown to be soluble in ethanol (EtOH) and methanol (MeOH), with the presence of secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, globular proteins, steroidal or triterpenoid nucleus, anthraquinones, lactones, phenols, flavonoids and other phenolic compounds. Mice treated with 20 mg/kg of extract showed a significant increase in immobility time in the tail suspension test compared to the control and placebo groups. Conclusion: The antidepressant effect of the ethanolic extract of Annona cherimola Mill “cherimoya” leaves was proven in albino mice.
