Ítem Acceso abierto Coping strategies in mothers of newborns with congenital malformations in the Intermediate Neonatology Service III, National Maternal Perinatal Institute, Lima – 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-06-27) Collazos Rodriguez, Ana Virginia; Pérez Siguas, Rosa EvaObjective: Determine the coping strategies in mothers of newborns with congenital malformations of the Intermedios III Neonatology Service, National Maternal Perinatal Institute, Lima – 2019. Material and method: The study method is quantitative, the design is descriptive and cutting. transversal. The study worked with the total population, with the participation of 94 mothers of newborns with congenital malformations from the Intermedios III Neonatology Service, National Maternal Perinatal Institute who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, respectively. The data collection technique was the survey and the data collection instrument used was the 28-item COPE-28. Results: Regarding coping strategies in mothers of newborns with congenital malformations, we found that 80.9% have moderately adequate coping and 19.1% have inadequate coping. Regarding the dimension focused on the problem, 74.5% have moderately adequate coping, followed by 25.5% who have adequate coping. Regarding the dimension focused on emotion, 61.7% have inadequate coping, followed by 38.3% who have moderately adequate coping. Conclusions: In the coping strategies of the participating mothers, moderately adequate coping predominated, followed by inadequate coping; Regarding the dimensions, the one that presented the best coping strategy was in the problem-focused dimension.
