Publicación Acceso abierto Actividad ansiolítica y antidepresiva del aceite esencial de las semillas de Foeniculum vulgare Mill. “hinojo” en ratones albinos(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-10-14) Arotinco Rojas, Karin Griselda; Delgado Cipriano, Clara María de los Angeles; Collantes Llacza, Adela MarleneAccording to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression and anxiety account for 4.3% of the global burden of morbidity. The objective of this study was to determine the anxiolytic and antidepressant activity of the essential oil from the seeds of Foeniculum vulgare Mill., 'fennel,' in albino mice. Methodology: The methodology used was experimental, explanatory, quantitative, and applied. The seeds were collected in the province of Huarochirí (Matucana). The essential oil (EO) was extracted by hydrodistillation. The anxiolytic activity was evaluated using the marble burying method in 40 mice at oral doses of 2.5, 5, and 10 mL/kg of EO, compared to diazepam at 10 mg/kg. The antidepressant activity was evaluated using the forced swim test in 40 mice at oral doses of 2.5, 5, and 10 mL/kg of EO, compared to fluoxetine at 20 mg/kg. Results: The essential oil of Foeniculum vulgare showed antidepressant activity at the first two doses and anxiolytic activity at all three doses. Conclusion: The essential oil demonstrated antidepressant activity at doses of 2.5, 5, and 10 mL/kg and showed activity comparable to diazepam.Publicación Acceso abierto Consumo de medicamentos antidepresivos y su impacto en la salud en adolescentes atendidos en el Centro de Salud Mental Comunitario Vitaliza Parcona – Ica, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-25) Hume Gallegos, Jacqueline Sadith; Masco Terrones, Javier Alexander; Collantes Llacza, Adela MarleneThe objective was to determine the relationship between the consumption of antidepressant medications and the impact on health in adolescents treated at the Vitaliza Parcona Community Mental Health Center – Ica, 2023. Methodology: A solubility test and a preliminary qualitative phytochemical analysis were performed to determine the secondary metabolites. To demonstrate the antidepressant activity, the tail suspension test was used in 35 mice divided into 5 groups: control, placebo, 10 mg/kg, 20 mg/kg and 30 mg/kg of the ethanolic extract of Annona cherimola Mill (cherimoya) leaves. The plant sample was 1 kg of cherimoya leaves collected in the province of Huarochirí, Peru. Results: The ethanolic extract of Annona cherimola Mill (cherimoya) leaves was shown to be soluble in ethanol (EtOH) and methanol (MeOH), with the presence of secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, globular proteins, steroidal or triterpenoid nucleus, anthraquinones, lactones, phenols, flavonoids and other phenolic compounds. Mice treated with 20 mg/kg of extract showed a significant increase in immobility time in the tail suspension test compared to the control and placebo groups. Conclusion: The antidepressant effect of the ethanolic extract of Annona cherimola Mill “cherimoya” leaves was proven in albino mice.Publicación Acceso abierto Factores asociados a la prescripción de psicofármacos en adultos mayores atendidos en un hospital nacional de SMP, Lima-2025(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2026-01-21) Ascencio Morales, Jhonatan Smith; Rendon Bautista, Gabriela; Ñañez del Pino, DanielThe study aimed to identify the factors associated with the prescription of psychotropic drugs in older adults treated at a national hospital in San Martín de Porres, Lima, during 2025; an analytical method was used, with a quantitative approach, basic type, non-experimental design, cross sectional cut and descriptive level, including a sample of older adults and using questionnaires and observation guides as instruments; results showed a significant association between the prescription of psychotropic drugs and sociodemographic factors (age, educational level, occupation, income and marital status), biological factors (presence of chronic diseases, functional deterioration, memory problems and dependency), and psychosocial factors (symptoms of depression, discrimination, loneliness and absence of family/friend support), with SSRI antidepressants being the most prescribed drugs; it was concluded that sociodemographic, biological and psychosocial factors are significantly associated with the prescription of psychotropic drugs in older adults, highlighting the importance of comprehensive geriatric mental health care.Publicación Acceso abierto Frecuencia de consumo con antidepresivos en pacientes de 40 a 60 años en tiempos de COVID-19 en botica Inkafarma Lima Perú – 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-11-25) Rodriguez Ninahuanca, Valeria Estefhany; León Apac, Gabriel EnriqueThe objective of this research is to determine the frequency of antidepressant medication consumption among patients aged 40 to 60 during COVID-19 at Inkafarma pharmacy, Lima, Peru – 2022. Method: For this, a data collection form was applied from the prescription and patient care in the pharmacy. It was found that the psychotropic drugs most used by patients are alprazolam 35.4% and clonazepam 32.6%, followed by sertraline 19.3%. The prescription doses are conservative and do not differ much between the patients surveyed. The specialty of the prescriber issuing the prescription exceeds the professional capacity to prescribe them with a full balance of their side effects and efficacy for the conditions treated. The duration of treatment with psychotropic drugs in the patients evaluated ranges from 1 week to 10 months. The class of psychotropic drugs used is equally balanced for anxiolytics and antidepressants. The psychopathologies associated with the prescription of psychotropic drugs are anxiety and depression in their clinical and subclinical forms, followed by insomnia. It is concluded that, given a scenario in which the use of psychotropic drugs for anxiety, depression, and other psychopathologies is increasing, and that given the possibility of side effects associated with the type of psychotropic drug and the duration of treatment, the abuse of prescribing outside the relevant medical specialty and patient abuse should be carefully reviewed.
