Determination of the appropriate concentration for oral hygiene with Chlorhexidine in the prevention of pneumonia in intubated patients in the intensive care unit
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-09) Chavalía Cóello, Diana Elizabeth; Menacho Vergara, Lissette Carolina; Gómez Gonzales, Walter Edgar
Objective: Determine the best concentration of chlorhexidine used to perform oral hygiene to prevent pneumonia in intubated patients. Materials and Methods: Systematic reviews are an observational and meta-analysis research design, which synthesizes the results of multiple primary investigations. They are an essential part of evidence-based nursing due to their rigorous methodology, which is why a systematic review was carried out with articles in English and Spanish indexed in Cochrane, Embase, Lilacs, Pubmed, Medline, identifying relevant studies to answer specific questions of clinical practice. Results: The SCHEFFE statistical test indicated that of oral hygiene, chlorhexidine showed a statistically significant difference over other forms of hygiene in the reduction of the number of bacterial colonies (p<0.001). The only effect on reducing VAP was found when 0.12% chlorhexidine was used, used in cardiovascular surgery, where Chlorhexidine is used from preoperatively. Conclusions: Oral care, cleaning and antisepsis is a useful strategy for the prevention of pneumonia associated with intubated patients; It was also determined that 0.12% chlorhexidine was effective in reducing colonization of the oropharynx and the incidence of pneumonia associated with intubated patients.

Effectiveness of skin antisepsis with chlorhexidine compared to other antiseptics for the prevention of infections in patients requiring a peripheral venous catheter
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-09-22) Martinez Vera, Yasmina Tatiana; Rosales Clemente, Raquel Nelly; Bonilla Asalde, César Antonio
Objective: Systematize the patents on the effectiveness of skin antisepsis for the prevention of infection in patients who require the use of a peripheral venous catheter. Materials and Methods: Systematic Reviews are scientific inquiries, where the element of exploration is the unique primary works. It is a fundamental instrument for the synthesis of scientific reference, increasing the value of study results and in turn identifying areas that need to be investigated. It is executed using a strict methodology and high quality control to avoid erroneous conclusions. The investigation is limited to writings with complete content. Those chosen were subjected to a thorough investigation, using the grade system that allowed us to record the strength of recommendation. From the final choice, 10 articles were selected, of which we found that 20% (02) belong to the country of Japan and France, while 10% (01) correspond, respectively, to Canada, Portugal, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. , United States and Ireland. Among the randomized clinical trials we find studies from Canada, the United Kingdom, France with 70% and systematic reviews from Portugal, the United States and Singapore with 30%. Results: Of all the articles analyzed, 80% affirm that chlorhexidine is more effective than the use of other antiseptics in preventing infections. Conclusions: The research reviewed shows that there is effectiveness of skin antisepsis with chlorhexidine compared to other antiseptics in preventing infections in patients requiring a peripheral venous catheter.

Nursing knowledge and practice in the cleaning and disinfection process of surgical material, Huacho Regional Hospital 2020
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-11-29) Pichilingue Curioso, Lili Imelda; Fernández Rengifo, Werther Fernando
When asepsis, antisepsis, cleaning, and disinfection were introduced, morbidity and mortality rates decreased considerably from 80% to 10%, but population demand and the current state of health of the population, lifestyles, and the failure of Health systems with respect to the resource of surgical materials increase the morbidity and mortality rate by a large percentage. Also, it is necessary to evaluate if the clinical practice guidelines respond to the needs of the population, or if it is the health personnel who fails in the cleaning and disinfection procedure of the material to be used in surgery. Researchers from all over the world have been interested in the cleaning and disinfection procedure, so they mention that cleaning surgical material is equally effective in reducing germs with an alcoholic solution or with an aqueous solution, referring to the enzymatic detergent. It is necessary to mention that the reuse of surgical instruments carries with it the risk of cross infection, in addition to the fact that the cleaning and disinfection procedure is very cumbersome, takes a lot of time, expensive and prone to error.
