Publicación Acceso abierto Evaluación del efecto hipoglicemiante del extracto etanólico de las hojas de Vallesia dichotoma Ruiz & Pav. "cun cun" en ratones(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-08-17) Cano Agramonte, Kenyi Ricardo; Chávez Flores, Juana ElviraThe objective was to evaluate the hypoglycemic effect of the ethanolic extract from the leaves of Vallesia dichotoma Ruiz & Pav., 'cun cun,' in mice. Methodology: The plant was collected in the La Primavera human settlement, Piura. A solubility test and a qualitative analysis were performed on the 'cun cun' leaves. A total of 48 mice of the Balbin/C53/CNPB strain were used, with an average body weight between 30–40 g. They were assigned to six groups of eight individuals. The first group was the control, the second was a Glibenclamide standard (5 mg/kg), and the third, fourth, and fifth groups were extracts at concentrations of 50, 100, and 150 mg/kg, all administered orally. Diabetes was induced with Alloxan at 75 mg/kg via intraperitoneal injection. Results: The ethanolic extract was found to be soluble in polar solvents (distilled water, ethanol, and methanol) and to contain flavonoids, phenolic compounds, steroids and/or triterpenes, and alkaloids. The extract at concentrations of 100 and 150 mg/kg had a hypoglycemic effect (p-value < 0.05). Conclusion: The hypoglycemic effect of the ethanolic extract from the leaves of Vallesia dichotoma Ruiz & Pav., 'cun cun,' was confirmed at the 100 mg/kg concentration.
