The methods used to determine these factors involved house-to-house surveys. The factors found to influence parasitism were: housing type, water supply, waste disposal, number of animals, and number of vectors. For the determination of parasitosis, the Direct Method and the Parodi concentration method were used. Results: The prevalence of parasites was Giardia lamblia (32%), Entamoeba coli (23%), Blastocystis hominis (17%), Ascaris lumbricoides (12%), Endolimax nana (6%), and Entamoeba histolytica (5%). Monoparasitism was the most prevalent at 49%, followed by biparasitism (31%) and triparasitism (1%). In conclusion, 81% of the residents suffered from enteroparasitism.
