Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of genetic counseling for early cancer detection in at-risk individuals(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-26) Gabancho Ojeda, Carmen Rosa; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioObjective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of genetic counseling for the early detection of cancer in people at risk. Materials and method: Systematic observational and retrospective quantitative review, subjected to critical selection, using the GRADE evaluation system to identify the level of evidence, found in the following databases: PubMed, Elsevier, Springer Link, JAMA network, ASCO, where 40% are randomized controlled clinical trials, 30% are quasi-experimental studies, 10% are a correlational study, 10% are a cohort study and 10% are It is an analytical cross-sectional study. Obtaining a high quality of evidence in 40% in the studies carried out that come from the United States, and a moderate quality of evidence in 30%, 2 from the United States and 1 from Korea respectively. Results: Likewise, of the evidence found, 80% (n=8/10) show the effectiveness of genetic counseling for the early detection of cancer in people at risk. In 20% (n=2/10) no significant evidence was found on the effectiveness of genetic counseling for the early detection of cancer in people at risk. Conclusion: Research has shown that genetic counseling for the early detection of cancer in people at risk is effective.
