Effectiveness of occupational therapy in the cognitive deterioration of older adults with Alzheimer's
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-08-18) Cáceres López, Maribel; Marín Honorio, Maria Betty; Matta Solis, Eduardo Percy
Objective: Analyze and systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of occupational therapy in the cognitive deterioration of older adults with Alzheimer's. Materials and Methods: The design was an observational systematic review. The sample was made up of ten articles that met the selection criteria. The search was carried out in a high-impact database, using keywords and Boolean operators in the search. Results: Of the ten articles reviewed, 3/10 (10%) belong to the Asian continent (Republic of Korea). 5/10 (50%) were systematic reviews, 2/10 (20%) were randomized trials, 2/10 (20%) were longitudinal cohort designs, and 1/10 (10%) were experimental. 8/10 (80%) studies obtained significant favorable results, while 2/10 (20%) did not obtain significant results. The relevant factors to demonstrate the effectiveness of occupational therapy were the duration and number of therapies, likewise, it is necessary to individualize the type of therapy in the patient according to the degree of cognitive impairment. Conclusions: The studies reviewed show the effectiveness of occupational therapy in the cognitive deterioration of older adults with Alzheimer's.

Objective: Systematize the findings of the effectiveness of transcutaneous bilirubinometry in the detection of jaundice in newborns. Materials and Methods: the design used was a systematic review, which uses original research studies. The population was made up of 20 articles, which through inclusion criteria allowed 10 articles to be selected from indexed scientific bases. Results: of the 10 articles, 7/10 (70%) belong to the Asian continent, 2/10 belong to the American continent (20%) and 1/10 belongs to the African continent, they were systematic reviews, Meta-analysis, Quasi-experimental, Trials Random 8/10 are equivalent to (80%), which are of high quality and strong recommendation; 2/10 are equivalent to (20%) which are Case Studies and weak recommendations. In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, we found that 70% (n=7) correspond to the Asian continent, China, Japan, India, Arabia and with 30% (n=3) we find Nigeria, the United States, Canada, Most of them have been studied in Systematic and Quasi-experimental Reviews and Meta-Analyses. 8/10 (80%) showed favorable evidence, 2/10 (20%) did not find it. Conclusions: It was evident in the reviewed research that there is effectiveness of transcutaneous bilirubinometry in the detection of jaundice in newborns.

Quality of life in adult patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-09) Reynoso Bernachea, David Angel; Rosales Cardenas, Margot Marili; Gómez Gonzales, Walter Edgar
Objective: Systematize evidence on the quality of life of adult patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Materials and Methods: Systematic observational and retrospective review, the search was carried out in articles with full text and the selected articles were subjected to a critical reading, according to the Grade system to identify the quality of evidence. Results: In the final selection, 10 scientific articles on quality of life in patients undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis were chosen: 03 studies correspond to a systematic review (30%), 01 cohort study (10%) and 06 studies are of a cross-sectional descriptive method. (60%), which present: Latin American (3), Asian (2), European (2), African (2) and American (1) studies, which applied the SF36 questionnaire to assess the quality of life, 90% of the articles analyzed report that there are no significant differences in the quality of life of patients undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis and only 10% represented by the Saudi Arabia study report that patients on peritoneal dialysis have a better quality of life, compared to hemodialysis patients, since it was applied to patients between 48 to 51 years old, in the studies, the possible factors related to quality of life were: age, comorbidity, marital status and education. Conclusions: Having carried out the systematic review of articles, it is concluded that there is no significant difference in the quality of life of patients with end-stage chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
