Ítem Acceso abierto Evaluation of resistance to compressive forces in three types of type IV plaster according to post-setting time(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-07) Zarpan Chancafe, Maria Petronila; Rojas Ortega, Raúl AntonioThe research aimed to examine the relationship between attitudes toward HIV patients and empathy levels among dental students at the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener. The methodology was based on a basic research design, with a quantitative, prospective, observational, and cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of dental students from the 8th and 9th semesters, totaling 120 students. Inclusion criteria included students who were enrolled and in regular standing, excluding those working in areas related to HIV patients, those with physical impairments, and those who had not filled out the informed consent. A survey technique was used, with the researcher acting as the interviewer to ensure participants could provide their responses. Data collection involved two questionnaires: one to measure attitudes toward HIV patients, consisting of 15 items using a Likert scale (values from 1 to 5), and another to measure empathy levels with 20 items, rated from 1 to 7 (from strongly disagree to strongly agree). The results showed no association between attitudes toward HIV patients and empathy levels among dental students. Most participants exhibited low empathy (57.5%, N=69) and unfavorable attitudes (90.8%, N=109), followed by moderate empathy (25.8%, N=31) and favorable attitudes (9.2%, N=11) across all participants, respectively.
