Ítem Acceso abierto Cognitive competencies and attitudes toward medical emergency care during dental practice in undergraduate students at the Norbert Wiener Private University in Lima, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-06) Loli Robles, Michelle Alejandra; Chilón Minaya, Lesly JohannaThe objective of this research was to determine whether there is a relationship between cognitive competencies and attitudes toward medical emergency care during dental practice among undergraduate students at Norbert Wiener Private University in Lima, 2022. To achieve the proposed objective, a basic study with a descriptive, correlational level, and a cross-sectional, non-experimental design was developed. A questionnaire was applied to 120 students from the Comprehensive Adult Clinic II course during the 2022 I and II periods in the Dentistry program at the mentioned university. According to the results, 49.2% of the students showed a regular level of cognitive competencies regarding their attitudes toward medical emergency care during dental practice. Additionally, 22.5% of the students reflected a good level of cognitive competencies, and only a small percentage, specifically 5%, showed a poor attitude toward medical emergency care during dental practice. A moderately positive correlation was determined between the two variables using the Spearman's Rho statistical test (rho = 0.618, p = 0.000). Conclusion: There is a relationship between cognitive competencies and attitudes toward medical emergency care during dental practice among undergraduate students at Norbert Wiener Private University in Lima, 2022.
