Pers. “Talla” en ratones(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-22) Rivera Vicuña, David Walter; Chávez Flores, Juana ElviraThe present research aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanolic extract of Baccharis buxifolia (Lam.) Pers. “Talla” leaves in mice. Solubility testing and a qualitative phytochemical profile of the ethanolic extract were carried out. To determine anti-inflammatory activity, the subplantar edema method with 1% albumin, as described by Winter et al. (modified), was employed. Forty-two albino mice (Mus musculus strain Balb/C53) of both sexes, each weighing more than 25 g, were used. The mice were randomly distributed into six groups and subsequently administered 0.1 mL of 1% albumin in the subplantar region. The plant extract was tested at concentrations of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg of body weight, while dexamethasone (4 mg/kg) and diclofenac (50 mg/kg) were used as standard drugs. The results showed that the ethanolic extract of Baccharis buxifolia leaves, at 400 mg/kg, exhibited the greatest anti-inflammatory effect at two hours, with an inhibition percentage of 62%, compared with the lower extract concentrations (100 mg/kg: 10%; 200 mg/kg: 28%) and with the standard drugs diclofenac (50 mg/kg: 31%) and dexamethasone (4 mg/kg: 48%). It is concluded that the ethanolic extract of Baccharis buxifolia (Lam.) Pers. “Talla” leaves demonstrates significant anti-inflammatory activity at a dose of 400 mg/kg.Publicación Acceso abierto Actividad diurética del extracto hidroalcohólico de las hojas secas de Baccharis genistelloides (Lam.) pers. Objective: To determine the diuretic activity of the hydroalcoholic extract from the dry leaves of Baccharis genistelloides (Lam.) Pers. (Carqueja) in Holtzman strain albino rats. Materials and method: 50 female rats weighing 230 to 280 g were used, employing the modified Naik et al. model. The rats were pre-hydrated with 0.9% sodium chloride (NaCl) at 50 mL/kg and distributed into five groups: Control Group (0.9% NaCl 50 mL/kg), Standard Group (furosemide 40 mg/kg), Group I (extract 200 mg/kg), Group II (extract 400 mg/kg), and Group III (extract 600 mg/kg). Urine was collected after 6 hours, followed by electrolyte dosage and the calculation of the percentage of urinary volumetric excretion (%EVU) and the percentage of diuretic activity (%AD). Results: At the sixth hour, the highest average urine volume was observed in Group III (8.63 mL). This group also showed 55.7% EVU. Regarding %AD, Group III presented the highest activity at 113.1%, which was superior to the control group. For electrolyte dosage, the observed differences in K+ and Na+ were not significant, meaning it cannot be asserted that the extract significantly alters these electrolytes, while the Cl- values of the extract groups were comparable to the control group. Conclusions: The hydroalcoholic extract from the dry leaves of Baccharis genistelloides (Lam.) Pers. (Carqueja) presented diuretic activity at all three concentrations used.
