Bacterial agents in diabetic foot in the central laboratory of the María Auxiliadora departmental hospital, in Lima-Peru, period 2019
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-10-22) Chamana Quiroz, Jackelina María; Cabello Vílchez, Alfonso Martin
Among the microbiological agents that can cause infections in diabetic feet are those from the skin and intestinal flora. This study aimed to "Determine which bacterial agents are most predominant in diabetic feet isolated in the central laboratory of the María Auxiliadora Departmental Hospital in Lima, Peru, during the 2019 period." The methodology used was an observational, cross-sectional, and descriptive study. A total of 181 positive culture data with their respective susceptibility profiles were analyzed, concluding that the predominant bacterial agents were Gram-negative bacteria (63%), with the most frequent being Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus vulgaris, and Morganella morganii. The most sensitive drugs were Carbapenems, Amikacin, Vancomycin, and Teicoplanin, while the most resistant were Ampicillin, Cefuroxime, Penicillin, and Clindamycin.

Clinical-epidemiological characteristics of patients hospitalized with urinary tract infections caused by BLEE-producing Enterobacteriaceae at Carlos Lanfranco La Hoz Hospital, 2017
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-05-07) Villarreal Guevara, Nathaly Marbelly; Benites Azabache, Juan Carlos
This research is a descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective study. A total of 148 data points from patients were collected, including age, sex, source service, prior antibiotic use, hospitalization time, and the enterobacteria isolated in their urine cultures. The statistical software EpiInfo and Excel were used for frequency analysis and graphical representation. The results showed that the prevalence of patients with UTIs positive for extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing enterobacteria was 23.2%. Of the 148 cases, 81.8% were women, the mean age was 49.4 years, 66.2% came from general medicine, the average hospitalization time was 12.3 +/- 13.5 days, and 68.9% of the enterobacteria isolated and positive for ESBL were Escherichia coli. The most frequent comorbidities were diabetes and hypertension, and 26.3% of the patients had received ceftriaxone prior to confirmation of infection by ESBL.

Efficacy of high-level disinfection in safe disinfection of endoscopes
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-09) Rubio Ampuero, Rosa Elena; Gómez Gonzales, Walter Edgar
Objective: Determine the effectiveness of High Level Disinfection (HLD) in the safe disinfection of endoscopes. Methodology: Systematic review whose population is made up of 06 published and indexed scientific articles, data collection was carried out through Lilacs, Scielo, Cochrane Plus, Medline, the analysis was carried out through a summary table, evaluating the quality of evidence and strength of recommendation in a critical and intensive manner for each article according to the established technical criteria, guaranteeing compliance with ethical principles. Results: At the national level, the Herediana Medical Journal concludes that the bacterial load before the cleaning and disinfection process of 50 endoscopes was positive in 88% and after the process positive in 26%. At the international level, the Chilean Journal of Infectology refers to infections exogenous pneumonias such as post-bronchoscopy pneumonia, which reach incidence rates, according to the authors, between 0.6% and 6.9% of the procedures.(6).The Spanish Society of Gastroenterology refers in 02 studies that DAN is not sufficient, both for endoscopes and accessories. The predominant bacteria in the positive cultures were Pseudomona Aeruginosa and Klebsiella Pneumoniae. Conclusion: The systematic review shows that DAN is not sufficient for the safe disinfection of endoscopes in sterilization centers.

Efficacy of the steam sterilization method in surgical instruments for the elimination of bacteria and spores
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-09-01) Chia Acevedo, Silvia Rosa; Calsin Pacompia, Wilmer
Objective To analyze the evidence on the effectiveness of the steam sterilization method on surgical instruments for the elimination of bacteria and spores. Materials and methods: The type of study was quantitative, the design was a systematic observational and retrospective review. The population was 34 studies and the sample was 10 studies. Instrument is the registry database search. The GRADE Method has been used to assign the strength of recommendation and the quality of evidence to place the most important results using the grade system to assign the strength of recommendation.

Phenotypic Characterization of Bacteria Causing Nosocomial Infections in Patients at the National Hospital Arzobispo Loayza During 2016
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-01-18) Rosas Carhuayal, Malena Virginia; Benites Azabache, Juan Carlos
The objective was to phenotypically characterize the bacteria causing hospital-acquired infections in patients at the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital during 2016. The methodology used in the study was descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and retrospective. A database of positive cultures was analyzed to determine the frequency of different resistance patterns confirmed as hospital-acquired infections by the Epidemiology Service. The study followed the established inclusion and exclusion criteria. The various bacterial phenotypes causing antibiotic resistance were identified. Therefore, it is recommended that each hospital maintain a resistance profile of the bacteria causing hospital-acquired infections to provide adequate treatment.
