Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between knowledge and application of biosecurity measures by dentists regarding high-risk contagious diseases at the Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre Dental Clinic, Lima 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-07) Vilcapoma Ramírez, Leisy Kattherine; Gómez Carrión, Christian EstebanThe objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the knowledge and application of biosecurity measures by dentists concerning high-risk contagious diseases at the Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre Clinic, Lima 2023. To achieve this, the deductive method was applied, with a quantitative approach, basic research type, correlational scope, and non-experimental design. Questionnaires and checklists were used as data collection techniques, involving a sample of 62 dentists. It was observed that 79.0% (n = 49) of the surveyed dentists had a regular level of knowledge of biosecurity measures, and 62.9% (n = 39) had a poor level of application of these measures. Regarding knowledge by gender: both female and male dentists had a regular level, with 80.0% (n = 24) and 78.1% (n = 25), respectively. In terms of application, 100.0% of female dentists had a poor level, while 50.0% of male dentists had a regular level. Regarding years of practice, the largest group with more than 9 years of practice concentrated on the regular knowledge level (75.0%, n = 24), and in terms of application, this same group showed a poor application level of biosecurity measures (46.9%, n = 15). Thus, it is concluded that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and application of biosecurity measures by the dentists at the clinic (p-value = 0.007).
