Material and Methods: The systematic review of 10 scientific articles found on the effectiveness of early detection of retinopathy to prevent blindness in preterm newborns were cited in the following database Pubmed, Scielo, and Cochrane, all of them were analyzed according to the Grade scale to determine its strength and quality of evidence. Results: the 10 articles reviewed, 90% of the studies related to interventions for the prevention of retinopathy of prematurity, are effective, since early detection and timely treatment were observed in the different studies, avoiding subsequent complications such as blindness. . Conclusions: according to the reviews carried out in nine of the studies, timely detection such as follow-up will prevent major complications such as blindness in premature infants.
