Ítem Acceso abierto Characterization of hematological bioanalysis in pediatric patients with Covid-19 infection at the INSN-2020(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-07-09) Carranza Champac, Ivonne Patricia; Avelino Callupe, Paul FortunatoCOVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, is an emerging disease that was first detected in Wuhan, China. It is highly contagious and rapidly spreading worldwide, leading to its declaration as a pandemic in March 2020, with over 200 million confirmed cases and approximately 4.3 million deaths by August 2021. While COVID-19 is more prevalent in adults, there are few studies in pediatric populations showing a low percentage of affected children (4%). Hematological bioanalyses include tests like hemogram and blood coagulation, which are considered basic in emergency and routine hospital settings as they reflect the normal or altered hematological state of the body and assist in diagnosing and monitoring the clinical progression of COVID-19 patients. Since there is no evidence of studies conducted or published at the national level on hematological bioanalysis in COVID-19 infection in adults and children, the objective of this project is to determine the characteristics of hematological bioanalysis in pediatric COVID-19 patients treated at the INSN during 2020. The study is applied, quantitative, observational, descriptive, retrospective, and cross-sectional, with non-probabilistic convenience sampling of all pediatric COVID-19 patients diagnosed and hospitalized in the Pediatric Medicine Service of the National Institute of Child Health, Breña, from March to December 2020.
