Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of home telemonitoring in heart failure patients(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-26) Ñañez Salinas, Milagros Nathaly; Velez Delgado, José Victor; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioMethod: A systematic review of the 10 scientific articles found on the effectiveness of home telemonitoring in patients with heart failure. Relevant studies were identified in the following databases: LIPECS, MEDLINE, LILACS, EBSCO, PUBMED, and COCHRANE PLUS. The research was limited to full-text studies, and the selected articles were subjected to an exhaustive reading, using the GRADE system to assess the quality of the evidence. Results: In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, of which the majority were systematic review studies (70%), followed by clinical trials (20%). Additionally, 10% of the studies were meta-analyses. On the other hand, 90% (N=09/10) show that telemonitoring in patients with heart failure is effective in reducing hospital readmissions, decreasing mortality, and improving the quality of life of patients with heart failure. Conclusions: The studies considered in this research demonstrate the effectiveness of home telemonitoring in patients with heart failure. This is corroborated by the reduction in hospital readmissions, decreased mortality, and improved quality of life.
