Methodology: This is a quantitative study with a descriptive and cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 207 users, and the sample was also 207. Results: Regarding the age of the interviewed users, 40.1% were between 25-34 years old, 83.1% of the users lived in urban areas, 59.9% were cohabiting, 44.9% had a secondary education level, and 43% were housewives. As for the knowledge level about breast cancer, 82.1% had an average level of knowledge. The level of preventive practices regarding breast cancer prevention showed that 65.2% of the users performed regular self-exams. Conclusion: It was concluded that the level of knowledge about breast cancer prevention among users treated at the gynecology and obstetrics service of Huacho Regional Hospital in 2021 was 82.1%, indicating an average knowledge level. The level of preventive practices was 65.2%, showing a regular level of practices regarding breast cancer prevention.Ítem Acceso abierto Risk factors of breast cáncer in women who come to the gineco service- oncology of the Maria Auxiliadora Hospital – 2017(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-09-25) Mamani Leandro, Katherine Fiorella; Pardo Cortez, Ana Maria Corona; Rodriguez Chávez, Carlos LeonidasObjective: To determine the risk factors for breast cancer in women attending the Gyneco-Oncology Department of María Auxiliadora Hospital in 2017. This was an observational, cross-sectional, comparative, retrospective study. The sample included 150 breast cancer cases and a control group of 150 individuals. Age was not identified as a risk factor for breast cancer. The mean age of women diagnosed with breast cancer was 42.5 years (SD = 6.8), while the mean age of the control group was 43.2 years (SD = 7.5). A history of breast cancer was observed in 43.3% (65) of the cases, compared to only 17.3% (26) in the control group, representing a 3.5-fold increased risk of developing breast cancer [OR = 3.5; CI 2.10 – 6.11]. Women who used contraceptives had a 1.76 times higher risk of developing breast cancer [OR = 1.76; 95% CI: 1.03 – 3.02]. Harmful habits were also identified as a risk factor for breast cancer in this study.
