    Effectiveness of stem cells in the management of patients with cardiovascular diseases

    Objective: To systematize and analyze the evidence on the effectiveness of stem cells for the management of patients with cardiovascular diseases. Materials and Methods: This is a qualitative study; the study design is a systematic review, and the population consisted of 25 scientific articles, with a sample of 10 articles. The databases used included Cochrane Library, Wiener Library, Ebsco Host, PubMed, and Online Library. The analysis technique employed was the GRADE method, which recognizes not only the importance of randomized trials but also high-quality evidence found in other sources. Results: Ten scientific articles were analyzed, with 30% being qualitative and 70% quantitative. The study designs included 30% systematic reviews and 70% clinical trials. Regarding the countries of origin, 50% of the studies were from the United States, 20% from France, 10% from Chile, 10% from Belgium, and 10% from the United Kingdom. A systematic review study was effective for changes in LVEF (Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction) in ICM (Ischemic Cardiomyopathy) trials where stem cell injections were administered, with a 3.2% improvement in the treatment group and -1.3% in the control group. Conclusions: It was concluded that 90% of the studies on stem cell-based management for cardiovascular disease patients are effective, as they controlled disease activity, prevented cardiovascular damage, and were well tolerated. The remaining 10% concluded that stem cell therapy for cardiovascular disease patients is not effective, as no advantage was demonstrated for these patients.
