Ítem Acceso abierto Cetylpyridinium chloride in the prevention of COVID-19, knowledge and practices in dental students at Norbert Wiener University.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-06-26) Orellana Yupanqui, Franco Giancarlo; Céspedes Porras, JacquelineObjective: The objective of this research was to describe the knowledge and practices about Cetylpyridinium Chloride in the prevention of COVID-19 among students at the Norbert Wiener University in 2021. A quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted. A 15-item questionnaire based on current literature was designed, validated by expert judgment and a pilot study (Cronbach's Alpha of 0.813), demonstrating good reliability. The questionnaire was uploaded to the web 2.0 using a Google Form and shared virtually with students from the School of Dentistry. The sample consisted of 310 students who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The results showed that the knowledge level among the surveyed students was Low in 45.2%, Regular in 24.2%, and High in 20.6%. There was no statistically significant relationship between knowledge level and the variables age (p=0.445), gender (p=0.193), and year of studies (p=0.102). Regarding practices, most students indicated that they would prescribe mouth rinses with this compound before each dental procedure.Ítem Acceso abierto Level of knowledge about the use of mouthwashes by students from the V to X cycle of the UPNW during dental care as a preventive measure against Covid-19. Lime – 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-11-23) Cespedes Rivera, Katherine Sharon; Arauzo Sinchez, Carlos JavierThe objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge regarding the use of mouthwashes during dental care as a preventive measure against COVID-19 among students at UPNW. The research was applied, with a cross-sectional descriptive design, and the sample consisted of 237 dental students enrolled from the fifth to the tenth cycle during the 2021-2 period, who were taking preclinical and clinical courses. Data collection was conducted through a virtual form consisting of 20 questions in total, divided into 4 topics, each with 5 questions. The questionnaire was subjected to expert judgment for validation as an instrument and, subsequently, a pilot test where a reliability coefficient of 0.80 was obtained. The results showed that 79.7% of the dental students had an average level of knowledge about the use of mouthwashes during dental care as a preventive measure against COVID-19. Furthermore, a statistically significant difference was found between the level of knowledge about mouthwashes and the age of the students (p=0.007). However, no statistically significant difference was found between the level of knowledge about mouthwashes and the sex of the students (p=0.586), although the female sex scored better than the male sex. In conclusion, a large percentage of students showed an average level of knowledge about the use of mouthwashes during COVID-19, and regarding age and sex, they also showed an average level of knowledge.
