Effectiveness of Captopril treatment in patients with hypertensive crises

Objective: To systematize and analyze the evidence on the effectiveness of captopril treatment in hypertensive crises. Materials and Methods: This is an observational and retrospective systematic review, with a search restricted to full-text articles, and selected articles underwent critical reading. Of the 11 articles, 28% (03) are from Cuba, 18% (02) from Mexico, 18% (02) from Brazil, 9% (01) from the USA, 9% (01) from Iran, 9% (01) from Turkey, and 9% (01) from Bosnia. Systematic review with 9% from Brazil, quasi-experimental studies with 9% from Mexico and Bosnia, and clinical trials with 9% from Cuba, Iran, and Mexico, respectively. 18% of the studies are cross-sectional descriptive studies from Cuba, 9% from Brazil, 9% from Turkey, and 9% from the USA. 100% of the analyzed articles affirm that captopril is effective in the treatment of hypertensive crises. Results: E. Karakilic et al. demonstrate that captopril is an effective, easy-to-administer, and safe treatment for hypertensive crises, starting its action from 15 to 120 minutes after administration, reducing the mean blood pressure by 25%, as recommended by European and North American guidelines. This is consistent with Maleki A et al., who evaluated nifedipine, captopril, or sublingual nitroglycerin, which can reduce blood pressure the most? Conclusion: The reviewed studies provide evidence of the efficacy of captopril in treating hypertensive crises.

Use of captopril versus amlodipine for the nursing care process in hypertensive crisis in the emergency service.

The literature review included 10 scientific articles on the use of captopril versus amlodipine for the care process of nurses in hypertensive crisis in the emergency department. They were cited from the lilacs, pubmed, dialnet, scielo, Cochrane, ebsco and epistemonikos databases. The selected articles were subjected to an exhaustive reading; they were analyzed according to the Grade scale to determine their strength and quality of evidence. Results: Of the 10 studies, 50% (n = 5/10) are analytical cross-sectional studies, 30% (n = 3/10) are narrative reviews, 10% (n = 1/10) are meta-analysis and another 10% (n = 1/10) are retrospective cohort studies. The analysis of the studies shows that 90% (n=9/10) indicate that there is not enough scientific evidence to define the use of captopril versus amlodipine for the nursing care process in hypertensive crisis in the emergency service and 10% (n=1/10) confirm that amlodipine is effective in hypertensive crisis.

Validación de método Espectrofotométrico UV/VIS según lineamientos USP para captopril 25 mg a partir de perfiles de disolución. Lima 2025

La validación de métodos analíticos es fundamental en la industria farmacéutica para garantizar la calidad y eficacia de los medicamentos. Esta investigación se centra en la validación de un método espectrofotométrico UV/VIS para la cuantificación de captopril en tabletas de 25 mg, siguiendo los lineamientos de la USP. El objetivo principal fue validar el método espectrofotométrico UV/VIS según lineamientos USP para captopril 25 mg apartir de perfiles de disolución, Lima 2025 . Material y métodos: se utilizó un diseño pre-experimental y se llevaron a cabo análisis de especificidad, linealidad, precisión, exactitud, robustez y estabilidad. Los resultados indicaron que el método presenta una alta especificidad, con interferencias mínimas en longitudes de onda óptimas (220 nm y 217 nm). La linealidad se comprobó en un rango de 5.556 a 33.333 µg/mL, con un coeficiente de correlación de 0.9997. La precisión mediante la repetibilidad y precisión intermedia mostró desviación estándar relativa menor a 2 %, mientras que la exactitud supero a 99 % y menos que 101 % de recuperación promedio. En cuanto a robustez, el método mantuvo DSR menores al 2 % bajo variaciones de longitud de onda y filtro. Sin embargo, se evidenció inestabilidad en pH 6,8 a las 24 horas, lo que requiere un manejo cuidadoso. Conclusión, el método espectrofotométrico UV/VIS para la cuantificación de captopril (25 mg) en estudios de perfiles de disolución, fue validado según lineamientos USP-43.
