A cariogenic record and odontogram were used. The sample consisted of 125 children. The results showed that the cariogenic risk of the lunchboxes was low in 63 children (50.4%) and moderate in 62 children (49.6%). Regarding the severity of dental caries in each child, based on the (ceod) index, 52 children (41.6%) had low to very low severity, 23 children (18.4%) had moderate severity, and 50 children (40%) had high to very high severity. Regarding the relationship between the cariogenic risk of the lunchbox and the severity of dental caries by age, the results showed a relationship only in two levels: low and moderate, where a correlation was found between these two variables for children aged 4 years (p<0.05). A low positive correlation (0.358) was found, which was significant (p<0.05) according to the Spearman correlation coefficient. In conclusion, there is no statistically significant relationship between the cariogenic risk of the lunchbox and the severity of dental caries at the educational institution.
