Various interventions have been studied, with carnitine supplementation considered one of the most strategic. This secondary research, titled 'Critical Review: Carnitine Supplementation for Improving Cardiometabolic Parameters in Chronic Kidney Disease Patients,' aimed to provide a professional critical commentary based on the review of scientific articles related to carnitine supplementation for improving cardiometabolic parameters. The clinical question was: 'Will carnitine supplementation improve cardiometabolic parameters in adults with chronic kidney disease?' The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. Information was searched in PUBMED, SCIENCE DIRECT, and REDALYC, finding 32 articles, with 13 selected and evaluated using the critical reading tool CASPE, ultimately selecting the randomized clinical trial titled 'Study on effects of L-carnitine supplementation on anaemia with erythropoietin hyporesponsiveness and lipid profile in chronic kidney disease patients on maintenance hemodialysis,' which has an evidence level of 'AI' and a Strong Recommendation grade, according to the researcher's expertise. The critical commentary concluded that there is sufficient evidence to determine the effect of L-carnitine supplementation on improving cardiometabolic parameters such as hemoglobin, erythropoietin resistance, total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and VLDL lipoproteins.
