Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of phacoemulsification versus extracapsular extraction in patients with cataracts(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-11-25) Mamani Huaman, Rosa Luz; Ferrández Pinto, Bertha; Calsin Pacompia, WilmerObjective: To analyze and systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of phacoemulsification versus extracapsular extraction in patients with cataracts. Materials and Methods: The type of research was quantitative, and the study design was a systematic review. The population consisted of 37 articles, and the sample was 10 scientific articles. The instrument was a database search: Scielo, Library of Medicine, Virtual Health Library, Venezuelan Society of Ophthalmology, Omicsonline, Journal of Health Research and Reviews in Developing Countries, Journal of Medicine and Biomedical Research, PubMed, and Epistemonikos. The articles were evaluated using the GRADE method, which assessed the quality of evidence and the strength of recommendations. Results: Of the articles, 40% were from Cuba, 10% from Malaysia, and 50% from Nigeria, Egypt, Venezuela, Spain, and the U.S., each corresponding to 10%. Regarding the study designs, 90% were clinical trials and 10% were systematic reviews. Conclusions: 70% of the studies related to phacoemulsification were effective because visual acuity recovery was faster, less astigmatism was induced, smaller corneal incisions were made, fewer post-surgical and intra-surgical complications occurred, and there was an adequate improvement response. 20% concluded that both surgical techniques were not effective because they caused comparable damage to the corneal endothelium, and 10% concluded that both phacoemulsification and extracapsular extraction were effective because visual acuity and complications did not differ significantly.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of the educational program “Eye Health“ in self-caring in caregivers of the largest post-taked adult of cataract at the National Institute of Oftalmology 2018(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-11-29) Ibarra Yancan de Villegas, Mirtha; Montes Pariona, Juana; Calsin Pacompia, WilmerObjective: To determine the effectiveness of the educational program "Eye Health" in self-care among caregivers of elderly patients who underwent cataract surgery at the National Institute of Ophthalmology in 2018. Methodology: A study with a quantitative design, quasi-experimental method. A prospective, longitudinal study, with a sample of 45 caregivers. The instrument used was the application of a questionnaire and checklist, with prior informed consent. Results: In the pre-test, 100% had a low level of knowledge regarding self-care. Regarding practice, 100% did not apply knowledge of self-care. In the post-test, after the intervention, 60% achieved a moderate level of knowledge, and 31.1% achieved a high level of knowledge about self-care. Regarding self-care practice, after the educational intervention, 100% applied the knowledge. Thus, the effectiveness of the educational program was evident. The Wilcoxon Z test (-5.862) was used, finding a statistically significant result (p = 0.000). Conclusions: The educational program "Eye Health" was effective in increasing caregivers' knowledge about postoperative care for cataract surgery patients. After the educational program, most caregivers understood that warning signs and symptoms include pain and red eye. They learned that after surgery, they should consider mobility restrictions, avoid lifting heavy objects, and that eye drops should be applied after washing hands, shaking the drops, and applying them to the operated eye. A 10-minute waiting period between applications of each drop improves absorption.Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge of family care and its relationship with the practice in post-operated cataract patients at the eye institute of Oftalmosalud, November – February 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-02-25) Peralta Soza, Maria Sophia; Cárdenas de Fernández, María HildaObjective: Determine the level of knowledge of family care and its relationship with practice in post-cataract surgery patients in the ophthalmosalud eye clinic, period November to February 2021. Material and methods: logical deductive study, quantitative approach, applied type, design correlational methodological, total population 107 post-cataract surgery patients along with their caregivers meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria, survey technique applied, 1st instrument to measure the level of knowledge is a questionnaire type consisting of 12 questions are applied to the family caregiver after informed consent, applying the measurement scale: high, medium and low. The 2nd instrument consists of an observation checklist consisting of 6 dimensions each with 3 questions to measure the level of practice in caring for the post-operative patient. When processing our research data using tables and graphs.Ítem Acceso abierto Level of knowledge of self-care and its relationship with complications in post-operated cataract patients at Oculaser Clinic, Lima 2022.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-07-15) Tovar Mendoza, Diego Alejandro; Cárdenas de Fernández, María HildaObjective: To analyze the relationship between the level of self-care knowledge and complications in patients who have undergone cataract surgery at the Oculaser Clinic, Lima in 2022. Material and method: This research has a quantitative approach. The overall level of self-care knowledge is high in 52%, low in 37%, and average in 11%; overall, 46% is high, 40% is low, and 14% is low. There is a relationship between the overall level of self-care knowledge and complications in patients who have undergone cataract surgery in 91%.Ítem Acceso abierto Post-cataract surgery patient monitoring through the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) at the Divino Niño Jesús ophthalmology clinic, Lima – 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-05-30) Montoro Choque, Cinthia Ericka; Gonzales Saldaña, Susan HaydeeMethod: Quantitative, descriptive approach, in terms of longitudinal, non-experimental methodological design, with a total population of 100 patients post cataract surgery and discharged from the clinic, meeting the criteria (inclusion - exclusion), the applied technique was the interview and to determine the use of information and communication technologies (ICT), an instrument was applied to collect data such as a scale or telephone Score called by the author Viñoles: Ambulatory Surgery Disability Scale (ASI). Results: There is low disability (ASI 1) in all telephone calls, with call 1 (98.0%) being control acquisition in good recovery progress; followed by high disability (ASI 3) (18.0%) in the 4th. call; and the average disability (ASI 2) shows lower uptake with 2.0% and 5.0% in the 1st. and 3rd. call. Conclusions: It was determined that in the monitoring of post-cataract surgery patients through the use of information and communication technology (ICT), there was a low disability (ASI 1) of the patients in all telephone calls; then the high disability (ASI 3) in the 4th. call; while the average disability (ASI 2) shows less uptake (1st and 3rd call), requiring more calls for improvement in the patient.Ítem Acceso abierto Quality of life and functional capacity in patients post-operated for cataract surgery at the Ophthalmological Clinic MACULA D&T LIMA 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-03-27) Linares Del Aguila, Lizeth Patricia; Gonzales Saldaña, Susan HaydeeThe objective of the research was to determine the relationship between quality of life and functional capacity in post-cataract surgery patients at the Macula D & T Ophthalmology Clinic - Lima in 2023. The methodology was hypothetical - deductive, with a quantitative approach, applied, non-experimental, transversal and correlational, where the sample was made up of 130 post-cataract surgery patients. Spearman's non-parametric rho test was used for statistics. The results found a relationship between quality of life in its dimension: difficulty with educational activities, difficulty with daily activities, difficulty with recreational activities and the response to vision problems with functional capacity (p <0.05) in post-cataract surgery patients. It is concluded that there is a significant relationship between quality of life and functional capacity in patient’s post-cataract surgery at the Macula D & T Ophthalmology Clinic - Lima in 2023.
