Effectiveness of infrared light in improving peripheral venous access in pediatric patients with difficult venous access

Objective: to systematize the available evidence from studies carried out on the effectiveness of the use of infrared light to improve peripheral cannulation in pediatric patients with difficult venous access. material and method: systematic review of scientific articles found effectiveness of the use of infrared light to improve peripheral channel cannulation in pediatric patients with difficult venous access, databases: epistemonikos, cochrane, lilacs, medline pubmed, scielo, and grade evaluation. Results: the articles systematically reviewed were 10% systematic review, 20% systematic review and meta-analysis, 30% randomized clinical trial and 40% randomized controlled trial. The articles reviewed systematically show that 20% of the effectiveness of infrared light exists. 50% did not have the effectiveness of infrared light to improve peripheral channel cannulation, 30% could improve the effectiveness of infrared light. Conclusions: the articles systematically reviewed conclude that 3 of 10 articles show that more studies are required. of evaluation. 2 out of 10 articles show that there is effectiveness in the use of infrared light. It was concluded that 5 of 10 articles show that there is insufficient evidence of the effectiveness of infrared light.

Effectiveness of the use of infrared and ultrasound vascular image devices in the peripheral venous access channel compared to traditional technique to reduce the number of puncture attempts in pediatric patients

Objective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of using infrared vascular imaging devices and ultrasound in peripheral venous access cannulation compared to the traditional technique to reduce the number of puncture attempts in pediatric patients. Material and Methods: Systematic review of 10 scientific articles indexed in databases: Lilacs and PubMed. Analyzed according to the Grade scale. Results: 60% of the evidence agree that the use of these devices improved the success rate of cannulation. Conclusions: 6 out of 10 articles demonstrate the effectiveness of using vascular imaging devices: infrared and ultrasound, while 4 out of 10 articles suggest that they do not outperform the traditional cannulation technique and/or do not present significant results.

Efficacy of using ultrasonography for the success of peripheral catheterization in patients with difficult venous access

Objective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of ultrasonography for the success of peripheral catheterization in patients with difficult venous access. Material and methods: This is a systematic review, where 10 scientific articles were reviewed, which were obtained from reliable sources such as scientific journals from around the world, mostly in English. Scientific articles were included that were related to the success or otherwise of peripheral venous cannulations through the use of ultrasonography guidance. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed in this research, we can conclude that in 8 of the 10 articles reviewed it is mentioned that ultrasonography increases the success rate of peripheral catheterization, reducing the number of attempts, the time used and facilitating the insertion of larger caliber catheters, as well as in the other 2 remaining articles, it is concluded that the successful cannulations obtained in them were the same with or without the use of ultrasonography as a guide. Conclusion: The use of ultrasound guidance increases the success rate in the cannulation of peripheral intravenous lines, especially in patients with difficult venous access.

Knowledge and Nursing Care of the Percutaneous Catheter in the premature neonate in the neonatal intensive care unit of a national hospital in Ica, 2021

This research is observational, cross-sectional, and correlational in nature. It will consist of 25 nursing professionals. The entire population working in the neonatal intensive care unit at the National Hospital of Ica will be selected for the application of the instruments. Data collection will use two instruments: a questionnaire to be answered by the nursing professional, consisting of 14 closed-ended questions, assigning one point for each correct answer and zero for each incorrect answer. Knowledge will be evaluated as good (10 to 14 points), fair (5 to 9 points), and deficient (0 to 5 points). The second instrument is a checklist: 'Nursing Intervention in the Care of the Patient with a Central Venous Catheter,' consisting of 14 items, with responses scored as Yes = 1 point; No = 0 points, establishing three categories: good (9-14), fair (5-9), and deficient (0-5). The obtained information will be processed using a data processing matrix with Microsoft Excel. The results will be presented in tables and statistical graphs.

Objective: To determine the correlation between knowledge and practice by nursing professionals on the percutaneous catheter in critically ill premature neonates at the Regional Hospital of Ayacucho. Approach and design: It has a quantitative, deductive, applied, observational and correlational approach. Population and sample: Established by 25 nurses, with a census-type sample. Instruments: Two instruments will be used; to measure the level of knowledge a questionnaire will be applied and to measure the practice a checklist will be used. Processing and analysis: The results will be presented using the statistical technique for systematizing the data.

Knowledge and practice of percutaneous catheter management by neonatal intensive care nurses in a national hospital, Lima-2024

A high level of knowledge among nursing professionals translates into appropriate practices in the management of percutaneous catheters in Neonatal Intensive Care, which in turn reduces complications and mortality rates in neonates. Given this importance, the main objective of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge and practice in the management of percutaneous catheters by Neonatal Intensive Care nurses in a national hospital in Lima in 2024. Regarding the methodology, the study will follow the hypothetical-deductive method, with a quantitative approach, applied type, and a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and associative design. A census sample of 89 nurses will be used. The data collection technique will involve surveys, utilizing two questionnaires. Subsequently, the Spearman correlation coefficient will be employed to establish the relationship between the two variables.

Level of knowledge and management of peripheral venous catheterization by nursing professionals of the emergency service of an oncology clinic, Lima - 2021

The nursing professional must be prepared for the use of the peripheral venous catheter and ensure the safety of the user and prevent complications when performing the procedure; However, systemic or local complications usually occur, due to the inexperience of the professional in charge. For this reason, this research was carried out in order to establish the correlation between knowledge and the management of peripheral venous catheterization by nurses in the emergency service of an oncology clinic, given that in the study place it is common to observe an increase in patients who require the creation of a peripheral venous catheter, despite this, it has been seen that many of the nurses did not use gloves since it caused a loss of tactile sensitivity, or adequate guidelines for the management of catheterization are not established. peripheral venous, especially due to lack of knowledge of indicators. This work is applied, correlational and transversal, in which 66 professionals working in the emergency service of a cancer center in Lima in 2021 were included. The technique is survey and observation. And the instrument will be made up of 20 questions validated by Aquise obtaining a value of 0.860 and the second instrument will be a checklist validated by Flores achieving a Kuder Richardson coefficient of 0.89. The correlation analysis will be estimated using non-parametric Spearman's Rho tests.

Nursing care in neonates with peripheral insertion venous catheter (picc) hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit, hospítal guillermo almenara irigoyen - lima 2021

Objective: To determine the nursing care in neonates with a peripherally inserted venous catheter (PICC) in neonates hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit in Lima, 2021 Methodology: The study will have a quantitative, applied and deductive approach. The population will be made up of nursing professionals with a specialty in Neonatal Intensive Care, being a total of 72 nurses specialized in neonatal intensive care. Since the population is small, the sample will also be made up of 72 nurses, who work in the neonatal intensive care unit, at the Guillermo Almenara Hospital. Data Collection Techniques and Instruments: The technique that will be used is Observation, using the Observation Guide of the Nursing Care research in the management of the peripheral venous catheter.
