(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-05-29) Vargas Monterola, Ivan; Rodriguez Ruiz, Mari Luz; Lizano Gutiérrez, Jesús Víctor
The present study was conducted with the objective of determining the level of knowledge regarding the proper disposal of medications in households in the districts of San Borja and Puente Piedra in May 2018. Using an inductive method, surveys were administered to 336 residents of Puente Piedra and 336 residents of San Borja. The surveys also aimed to determine whether the participants' educational level and/or socio-demographic status influenced their knowledge about the disposal of expired and non-expired medications. The results showed that both districts exhibited a high percentage of lack of knowledge regarding proper medication disposal, with Puente Piedra reaching 97% and San Borja 76.2%.

Nivel de conocimiento y actitud de la forma de eliminar los medicamentos en hogares del distrito de San Juan de Miraflores. Lima 2021
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-05-19) Luján Obregón, Taylor Anthony; Mamani Mamani, Noemi Eva; Parreño Tipián, Juan Manuel
The objective was to evaluate the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude regarding household medication disposal practices in the San Juan de Miraflores district. Methodology: This was a hypothetical-deductive study with a quantitative approach, an applied type, and a non-experimental, observational, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 385 households, selected by probabilistic sampling. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire for knowledge and a Likert scale for attitude. Both instruments were validated by expert judgment and deemed reliable (KR-20 = 0.676 and Cronbach's α = 0.784). Results: 48.3% had a medium level of knowledge. A significant difference was found between the level of knowledge and age, educational level, and profession or occupation (p<0.05). 93.2% had a positive attitude, and this was significantly correlated with sex and educational level (p<0.05). Finally, a relationship exists between the level of knowledge and attitude toward medication disposal practices (p=0.000 and contingency coefficient 0.345). Conclusion: A relationship exists between the level of knowledge and attitude toward medication disposal practices in households in the San Juan de Miraflores district, demonstrating that a higher level of knowledge leads to a more positive attitude.

Nivel de conocimiento y forma de eliminar los residuos de medicamentos vencidos o en desuso en hogares del distrito de Los Olivos. Lima. 2021
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-05-20) Tineo Lujan, Liz Catterinne; Ysidro Alejo, Lizbeth Erica; Guadalupe Sifuentes de Posadas, Luz Fabiola
In Peru, there is currently inadequate management and information regarding the disposal of expired or unused medication waste in households. The objective was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the method of disposing of expired or unused medication waste in households in the Los Olivos district. The methodology was non-experimental, cross-sectional, and quantitative, and it was tested in 302 households. Results showed that 91.4% of households exhibited poor disposal practices for medication waste and had a low level of knowledge. Regarding public health, 92% had a high level of knowledge. In terms of pharmaceutical forms, 64.3% of households had poor disposal methods due to low knowledge, while 37.4% had a medium level of knowledge of medication waste storage and used good disposal methods. In conclusion, a significant proportion of the population lacks knowledge about the proper handling and disposal of expired or unused medications, which can have negative effects on the health and environment of the residents of the Los Olivos district.
