Ítem Acceso abierto Critical review: Chronobiology in the treatment of obesity and the metabolic syndrome.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-03-16) Enciso Rios, Raquel Roxana; Dávila Córdova, Jennifer EstefaniaThe present secondary research titled as a critical review: Chronobiology in the treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome. The clinical question was: Is chronobiology effective in the treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome? The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The search for information in the PUBMED, SCIELO and Science Direct databases, finding 23 articles, 8 being selected that have been evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, finally taking into account the Randomized Clinical Trial entitled “Effect of an adjusted diet to chronotype on the effectiveness of weight loss: A randomized clinical trial”, which has a level of evidence I and Grade of Strong Recommendation, according to the expertise of the researcher. The critical comment allowed us to conclude that the nutritional intervention appropriate to the chronotype is more effective than the traditional hypocaloric diet in obese patients, for weight loss and a decrease in abdominal circumference, however, it has been anticipated that it is necessary to take other components, such as, social and behavioral factors. On the other hand, greater findings related to the components of the metabolic syndrome are expected in subsequent research.
