Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of laparoscopic colectomy versus conventional colectomy in reducing hospital stay and complications in postoperative colon cancer patients(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-12) Suclupe Huertas, Iris Mirian; Raymundo Ramos, Chaveli Iluminada; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa MaríaThe summary of the present research work on laparoscopic colectomy versus conventional colostomy in reducing hospital stay and complications in post-operative patients with colon cancer is quantitative and has a meta-analysis study design, randomized controlled trial and cohort, using the grade evaluation system for identifying the level of evidence, found in the following databases: Cochrane Library, British Medical Journal, Pubmed, Wiley Online Library. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 30% are meta-analyses, 50% are randomized controlled trials and 20% are cohort studies. These studies come from the countries of China (40%), followed by Japan (20%), Italy (10%), North Korea (10%), England (10%) and Belgium (10%). 90% point out that laparoscopic colectomy is more effective than conventional colectomy in reducing hospital stay and complications in post-operative patients with colon cancer, and on the other hand, 10% point out that there is no difference. The present study demonstrates that laparoscopic colectomy is more effective than conventional colectomy in terms of hospital stay, patients have less postoperative bleeding, and their risk of infection is lower.
