Material and methods: Systematic observational and retrospective review, subjected to critical reading and using the GRADE evaluation system to identify the degree of evidence of the published articles. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 40% were of high quality and 60% of moderate quality as described below: 40% (n= 4/10) are systematic reviews and 60% (n= 6/10) are studies Quasi-experimental cohort Results: 70% (n=7/10) indicate that conservative treatment is more effective than renal replacement therapy to improve quality of life. 30% (n=3/10) indicate that renal replacement therapy is more effective than conservative treatment in improving quality of life. Conclusion: 7/10 articles reviewed evidence that conservative treatment was more effective than renal replacement therapy to improve quality of life. 3/10 articles reviewed show that renal replacement therapy is more effective than conservative treatment in relation to: pain, discomfort, mobility, self-care, being less dependent and with fewer comorbidities
