Materials and Methods: Systematic reviews of 10 articles. Most of the studies are cohort studies, with 60% primarily from Mexico, Iran, Colombia, and California. Among the meta-analysis, experimental, and controlled reviews, we find studies from Mexico, Iran, the USA, with 20% (02). Additionally, 10% of the studies are clinical trials from Denmark and India. Results: 9 out of 10 articles report that the use of continuous positive airway pressure is effective in treating respiratory distress syndrome in premature newborns; however, 1 out of 10 articles states that the use of CPAP is not effective due to the immaturity of the newborn, causing treatment failure. Conclusions: 9 out of 10 articles recommend the use of continuous positive airway pressure as it is effective in treating respiratory distress syndrome, improves the clinical course of patients, and shortens hospital stays. On the other hand, 1 out of 10 articles does not recommend it due to complications and the probable need for mechanical ventilation, and it reduces the incidence of nosocomial infections.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of early use of continuous positive airway pressure in preventing bronchopulmonary dysplasia in premature newborns(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-05-19) Albitrez Abanto, Veronica Patricia; Campos Carhuas, Rebeca; Rivera Lozada De Bonilla, OrianaThe present research work is based on the review of 10 articles, 80% (8/10) articles show that the early use of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) in premature babies without apnea is a valid strategy. , to the extent that in more than 80% of cases it provides sufficient treatment and of shorter duration than that required if mechanical ventilation were immediately applied, which also reduces the risk of lung injury associated with this assistance respiratory. This means that in a very good part of these patients the problem is resolved with less exposure to oxygen, avoiding the consequences of mechanical ventilation, consequently reducing the incidence of central nervous system hemorrhage, sepsis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, without increasing the risk of pneumothorax. Concluding that the early use of CPAP is a safe, low-cost method and an effective therapy in premature neonates with respiratory difficulty. It reduces in-hospital morbidity and mortality, reduces the incidence of complications, such as Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, and is an alternative to routine intubation and the need for mechanical ventilation.Ítem Acceso abierto Efficacy of supraglottic devices compared to the endotracheal tube in the prehospital management of the airway in the adult patient with cardiac arrest.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-03-25) Cusi Calderón, Edgar Eugenio; Gamarra Bustillos, CarlosMaterials and Methods: A systematic review of 10 scientific articles found in the following databases: Pubmed, Medline, Cochrane Plus. We identified 10 scientific pieces of evidence. The search was restricted to full-text articles, and the selected articles underwent a critical reading, using the GRADE system evaluation to identify their level of evidence. Among the 10 evidences, 40% (4/10) were case-control studies, 30% (3/10) were systematic reviews and meta-analyses, 20% (2/10) were cohort studies, and 10% (1/10) was a randomized controlled trial. 70% of the evidence came from the United States, followed by 20% from Japan and 10% from the United Kingdom. Results: In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, and it was found that 100% (n=10/10) of the evidence indicated: 40% (n=4) report that supraglottic devices have a similar effectiveness to the endotracheal tube; 20% (n=2) report that supraglottic devices have greater effectiveness than the endotracheal tube; 40% (n=4) report that the endotracheal tube is associated with better outcomes, which are not associated with significant clinical consequences. Conclusions: The scientific articles reviewed provided evidence that supraglottic devices present a similar effectiveness to the endotracheal tube in adult patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.Ítem Acceso abierto Eficacia de la presión positiva continua en la vía aérea en el tratamiento del síndrome de distrés respiratorio en el recién nacido prematuro.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-07-08) Sinche Cuca, Araceli Fresia; Avila Vargas Machuca, Jeannette GiselleObjective: Analyze the available evidence from studies on the effectiveness of continuous positive airway pressure in the treatment of respiratory distress syndrome in premature newborns. Its population will be made up of 78 nurses, the survey technique will be used, using a questionnaire designed to evaluate the knowledge of nurses in the care of premature infants with CPAP. The questionnaire covers three dimensions: Technical aspects of CPAP system management, Airway Management and CPAP Management. In addition, an observation guide will be used to measure the nurses' practice in caring for premature infants with CPAP, which consists of three dimensions: Care during CPAP preparation, care during CPAP placement, and Care during hospitalization. This approach will be directed to the target population of the study. Each response collected will be processed using the SPSS V.25.0 program. To test the hypotheses raised in the study, the statistical tests of Spearman's correlation coefficient and Cronbach's Alpha will be used. These analyzes will allow us to evaluate the possible relationships and internal consistency of the data collected in relation to the knowledge and practice of nurses in caring for premature infants with CPAP.Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between knowledge and nursing care in the application of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in newborns, from a hospital in southern Peru, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-09-26) Valdivia Sullon, Rosa Maria; Avila Vargas Machuca, Jeannette GiselleContinuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) administered nasally is a less invasive ventilation modality for newborns with respiratory distress syndrome, which has allowed its widespread use in developed countries and increasingly in developing countries. Its importance in understanding and applying the appropriate care will prevent complications such as nasal injuries, nasal trauma, bleeding, crust formation, and even complete destruction of the anterior septum and nasal septum. Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and nursing care practices in newborns with Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in southern Peru, 2021. Material and method: The approach will be quantitative, with a non-experimental, descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional design. The study population will consist of 80 nurses working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in southern Peru. To assess the level of knowledge regarding CPAP management, the technique used will be a survey, with a questionnaire as the instrument. For the evaluation of care practices, observation will be used, applying a checklist to gather information related to nursing care in CPAP. A descriptive and correlational statistical analysis will be conducted.
