Ítem Acceso abierto Risk of osteoporosis in patients of the Maxillofacial Diagnostic Institute, evaluated in digital panoramic radiographs, Lima 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-12-16) Soto Faustino, Katheryn Elvira; Mezzich Gálvez, Jorge LuisA total of 127 digital panoramic radiographs from patients aged 35 to 75 years were analyzed to measure the width of the mandibular cortex using the MCW index. The results showed that 43.3% were at high risk of developing osteoporosis, while 56.7% were normal. According to sex, 42.9% of females were at high risk of osteoporosis, and 57.1% were normal. In males, 56% were normal, and 43.3% were at high risk. Regarding age groups, in females aged 56 to 75, 69.7% were at high risk of osteoporosis, while in males of the same age group, 68.8% were at high risk. The average mandibular cortex width was 3.12 mm ±0.42 mm in females and 3.09 mm ±0.47 mm in males. For the age group of 56 to 75 years, the average mandibular cortex width was 2.86 mm ±0.38 mm in females and 2.87 mm ±0.30 mm in males. Conclusion: 56.7% of the digital panoramic radiographs of the patients were normal, indicating no risk of developing osteoporosis.
