Method: A data collection form was used, with data taken from alerts issued by the General Directorate of Medicines, Supplies, and Drugs. Results: The percentage of counterfeit pharmaceutical and sanitary products was 27% in 2016, 36% in 2017, 5% in 2018, and 32% in 2019. The district with the highest prevalence of seizures was Cercado de Lima (70.4%). The origin of both seized pharmaceutical products (97.3%) and sanitary products (99.4%) was non-healthcare establishments. According to the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) classification, the most prevalent groups of counterfeit medications were the musculoskeletal system (29%), respiratory system (18%), and digestive system and metabolism (15%). The most counterfeited dosage form was tablets (51%). The most prevalent seized sanitary products were cosmetics (96.2%). Conclusions: The district with the highest number of seizures was Cercado de Lima, and the origin of seized products was non-healthcare establishments. The most frequently seized sanitary products were cosmetics, while the most common pharmaceutical form was tablets. The most counterfeited ATC group was the musculoskeletal system, and branded products had a higher percentage of counterfeiting.Publicación Acceso abierto Competencias del director técnico en la detección organoléptica de medicamentos falsificados de especialidad farmacéutica en las oficinas farmacéuticas(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-11-14) Atencio Paucar, Jackelinne Karin; Vásquez López, Orfelinda Marciomila; Ramos Jaco, Antonio GuillermoThe study was conducted to determine the competence of the Technical Director in the organoleptic detection of counterfeit pharmaceutical specialty medicines in community pharmacies. Methodology: A descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective, and observational design was applied to assess competencies, skills, and attitudes. Two instruments were developed: a questionnaire to evaluate the knowledge and attitude of the Technical Directors, and a technical data sheet to assess skills and the organoleptic evaluation of pharmaceutical specialty medicines. The study included a total of 257 community pharmacies (pharmacies and drugstores). Data analysis was performed using the statistical software SPSS, version 25. Results: Of the 257 (100%) respondents, the largest group corresponded to the medium knowledge level with 64.59% (166), followed by the high knowledge level with 20.22% (53), and the low knowledge level with 14.79% (38). Regarding skills, the group with low skills predominated with 45.14% (116), followed by medium-level skills with 38.52% (99), and high-level skills with 16.34% (42). In terms of attitude, the group with low-level attitudes was the most frequent with 38.91% (100), followed by medium attitudes with 35.80% (92), and high attitudes with 25.29% (65). Conclusion: Among the 257 Technical Directors, the predominant level of knowledge was medium in relation to the organoleptic detection of counterfeit medicines. Methodology: The research used a non-experimental descriptive design. Results: Among the counterfeit medications issued in DIGEMID alerts, Dolocordralam Extra Forte had the highest percentage at 5.3%, followed by Panadol Antigripal (4.8%) and Gravol 50 mg (4.2%). In the ATC classification, the musculoskeletal system led with 33.4%. By pharmaceutical form, tablets took the first place with 42.4%. By generic and/or commercial name classification, commercial (brand) names led with 99.24%. By department, Lima obtained the highest percentage with 69.3%, and the largest year-on-year increase was in 2013 with 2400%. Conclusions: The most counterfeited medication is Dolocordralam Extra Forte, and the years 2013 and 2016 showed the highest counterfeiting of medications in Peru.Publicación Acceso abierto Evaluación microscópica, rotulado y peso promedio de cápsulas de Spirulina platensis de dudosa procedencia comercializadas en las Galerías Capón Center, Hierba Santa 1 y 2 del distrito de Lima y La Victoria, Lima 2015–2016(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-11-13) Pariona Puma, Gina Janina; Mansilla Salvatierra, Elizabeth; Chávez Fernández, Ana MaríaThe objective of this study was to determine, through microscopic evaluation, labeling analysis, and average weight testing, the presence of Spirulina platensis in capsules of dubious origin marketed in Capón Center and Hierba Santa 1 and 2 galleries, in the districts of Lima and La Victoria (2015–2016). The study also assessed compliance with labeling requirements according to current legal regulations and pharmacopeia recommendations for average weight. This explanatory, observational, cross-sectional, descriptive, and comparative study first conducted a microscopic evaluation of Samples of Dubious Origin (SDO) compared with a standard, where 8.3% showed non-compliance. Second, labeling was evaluated in both reliable and dubious origin capsules based on Supreme Decree N°016-2011-SA and amendments, where 91.7% showed non-compliance and only 8.3% (SDO7) complied. Verification of the RUC number in SUNAT revealed that 50% of manufacturers were not registered, including SDO7. Finally, average weight evaluation according to official pharmacopeia references showed that 16.7% (SDO2 and SDO8) did not comply. In conclusion, none of the evaluated Spirulina platensis capsule samples fully complied with all established requirements.Publicación Acceso abierto Medicamentos falsificados reportados en las alertas de DIGEMID en el Perú 2019 - 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-10-13) De la Cruz Arango, Gladys; Cano Pérez, Carlos AlfredoObjective: To analyze the characteristics of counterfeit medications reported in sanitary alerts issued by General Directorate of Medicines, Supplies, and Drugs in Peru (DIGEMID) between 2019 and 2023, based on ATC codes, pharmaceutical forms, and product name classification. Methodology: This is a basic research study with a deductive approach and a non-experimental, descriptive design. The population was finite, and the sample consisted of 100 DIGEMID alerts. Results: It was observed that in 2022, 36% of the alerts were registered, while in 2019 and 2020 only 9.0% were recorded; 16% of the falsified medicines belonged to group "L", compared to 2.0% for groups "B" and "C". The most frequently falsified pharmaceutical form was tablets at 24.4%, followed distantly by aerosols at 6.9%. Regarding the correlation analyses, Spearman's Rho showed very high and positive relationships (Rho between 0.785 and 0.898) that were significant (p ≤ 0.004) between variables such as falsified medicines and ATC codes, pharmaceutical forms, brand names, and the increasing trend of alerts. The null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected in all cases. Conclusion: Counterfeit medicines reported in health alerts issued by DIGEMID between 2019 and 2023 do occur more frequently in certain ATC codes and pharmaceutical forms.
