Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 80% (n=08/10) show that cryotherapy is effective in pain control in post-operative patients. 80% of the articles, because they showed a significant benefit in the improvement of range of motion and function in the treatment. 100% of the articles have shown that cryotherapy is a simple, easily accessible and cost-effective technique to relieve post-arthroscopic pain since it is a Superficial Thermotherapy modality that is based on the application of cold as a therapeutic agent. Also, 80% of articles reveal that it reduces patients' time to return to daily activity and that the application is with the use of ice in a thick bag at a temperature below zero, covered with a cloth, placed directly on the operated area every 20min on the postoperative day. Conclusions: The 10 articles reviewed have shown that cryotherapy is effective in controlling pain in patients after knee arthroscopy surgery.Publicación Acceso abierto EFICACIA DE LA CRIOTERAPIA EN EL CONTROL DEL DOLOR EN PACIENTES POST OPERADOS DE ARTROSCOPIA DE RODILLA(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017) Ñique Villaorduña, María Guadalupe; Dr. Gómez Gonzales, WalterObjetivo: Evaluar las evidencias sobre la eficacia de la crioterapia en el control del dolor en pacientes post operados de artroscopia de rodilla.Resultados: De los 10 artículos revisados, el 80%(n=08/10), evidencian que la crioterapia es eficaz en el control del dolor en pacientes post operados. El 80% delos artículos, porque mostró un beneficio significativo en la mejoría de la amplitud de movimiento y de la función en el tratamiento. El100% de los artículos han demostrado que la crioterapia es una técnica sencilla, fácilmente accesible y rentable para aliviar el dolor post artroscópico ya que es una modalidad de Termoterapia Superficial que se basa en la aplicación del frío como agente terapéutico. También el 80% de artículos revelan que disminuye los tiempos de los pacientes para incorporarse a la actividad diaria y que la aplicación es con el uso de hielo en una bolsa gruesa a temperatura bajo cero, cubierto con una tela, colocado de manera directa en el área intervenida cada 20min en el día posoperatorio. El riesgo de selección en los estudios individuales fue realizado analizando la calidad metodológica según la escala CASPE. Results: Ten articles were analyzed, of which 50% were randomized controlled trials, 20% retrospective reviews, 20% systematic reviews, and 10% experimental studies. All articles (100%) concluded that oral cryotherapy is effective in reducing the incidence and severity of chemotherapy-induced mucositis, with 50% effectiveness for 5-fluorouracil chemotherapy and 50% for melphalan chemotherapy. Conclusions: Oral cryotherapy administered before, during, and after bolus 5-fluorouracil and high-dose melphalan administration in patients undergoing autologous stem cell transplantation is effective in reducing the incidence and severity of oral mucositis. No effectiveness was demonstrated with other cytostatics such as methotrexate and edrexate.
