Objective: To determine the level of knowledge of skin care and the use of sunscreens in young people aged 18 to 25 from a drugstore in the Independencia district. Method: The research was hypothetical-deductive, basic, with a quantitative approach, and a non-experimental, descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional design. Non-probabilistic convenience sampling was used, with a sample consisting of 223 young people. The instrument applied was a survey with questions about the level of knowledge of skin care and the use of sunscreens. Spearman's correlation was also used to test the hypothesis and measure the relationship. Results: Of the total young people surveyed, for those with a low level of knowledge (25.1%), 14.8% showed deficient use, 3.1% medium use, and 7.2% correct use. For those with a medium level of knowledge (41.7%), 13% showed deficient use, 8.5% medium use, and 20.2% correct use. For those with a high level of knowledge (33.2%), 5.4% showed deficient use, 4.5% medium use, and 23.3% correct use. Conclusions: A moderate correlation exists between the level of knowledge of skin care and the use of sunscreens, as well as between the sun protection factor (SPF), frequency of use, and frequency of application.
