    Characteristics of the abandonment of exclusive breastfeeding in mothers of children aged 0 to 6 months attended at José Agurto Tello Hospital.

    Objective: To determine the functional capacity level of elderly individuals attending the Day Hospital at Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital. Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with 156 elderly individuals over 60 years of age between July and December 2012, using the Barthel index and the Lawton and Brody scale. Results: The majority were female. The age ranged from 61 to 95 years, with a high percentage of individuals aged 80 years or older. The marital status was predominantly married, and the education level was primarily primary. Regarding the Activities of Daily Living (ADL), 50.7% exhibited mild dependence, with a higher prevalence in females. Additionally, 98.1% of the elderly required assistance with eating and moving, 38.5% needed some help with climbing stairs, and 19.9% were independent when taking baths. For the Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL), 11.5% showed maximum dependence, with females dominating in all levels; 59.6% required help with shopping, and 51.9% needed assistance with meal preparation. 87.8% were able to use the telephone independently. Conclusion: The majority of elderly patients were female and aged 80 or older, with a predominance of married individuals and those with primary education. In terms of ADL, more than half showed some level of dependence (mild, moderate, severe, or total), while for IADL, approximately three-quarters of the respondents were dependent (mild, moderate, severe, or maximum).

    Social and cultural characteristics of emergency hormonal contraception in women of childbearing age

    The objective of the study is to write scientific evidence on the social and cultural characteristics of emergency hormonal contraception in women of reproductive age. The material, methods, and methodology developed in the study was a qualitative narrative review, consisting of 28 articles published in: Scielo, Pubmed, Dialnet, and DOAJ. The GRADE system was used to assess the strength of the recommendation of each reviewed article, with the results showing: 35% were descriptive cross-sectional studies, while 31% were of moderate level. The social characteristics were: 50% aged between 16 to 19 years, 82% single, 83% students, and 72% from urban areas. The cultural characteristics were: 68% had secondary education, 65% had no knowledge of emergency contraception, and 61% used it at least 1 to 2 times a year. The conclusion of the study is that there is moderate-level scientific evidence regarding the social and cultural characteristics of emergency hormonal contraception in women of reproductive age.

    Sociocultural factors and lifestyles of older adults with type II diabetes mellitus of the internal medicine hospitalization service of the Grau Emergency Hospital, 2024

    Introduction: The sociocultural factors of the older adult are fundamental and necessary, currently those should be immersed in all organizations, therefore the lifestyle is expected to be ideal and healthy in the older adult with diabetes. Objective: To determine the relationship between sociocultural factors and lifestyles of older adults with type II diabetes mellitus in the Internal Medicine Hospitalization Service of the Grau 2024 Emergency Hospital. Methods: the methodology is hypothetical deductive, non-experimental design, applied, cross-sectional and quantitative approach. The study will have a sample of 50 older adults with type II diabetes mellitus in the Internal Medicine Hospitalization Service. The survey technique will be used and the questionnaires will be used as instruments: Lifestyle Scale, elaborated by Walker, Sechrist and Nola Pender (1996) and the scale on Sociocultural Factors of the Elderly, this instrument was developed by the author herself, in the collection of information will be a duration of 20 minutes for each participant. The data collected will be analyzed and interpreted with tables and graphs; the contrastation of the hypothesis will use the lifestyle profile questionnaire (PEPS-I), by Nola Pender, whose variance was 45.9% and reliability between 0.7 and 0.9.

    Sociocultural factors and their relationship with the social recognition of nurses by hospitalized patients of the surgery service, Víctor Lazarte Echegaray hospital, ESSALUD, Trujillo

    Objective: To analyze the relationship between sociocultural factors and the social recognition of nurses by patients in the surgery service of the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Essalud Hospital, Trujillo 2021. Material and Method: Descriptive-correlational and cross-sectional research design, as it studies the correlation between two variables to determine the degree of their relationship. It is descriptive because it measures or evaluates various aspects, dimensions, or components of the phenomenon(s) under investigation. It presents a quantitative approach, as it uses data collection to verify the hypothesis, based on statistical analysis and numerical measurement. The results obtained from this type of research are usually logical and impartial, and, above all, its measurement is subjected to criteria of reliability and validity. Furthermore, it has well-structured categories and responses that will explain the phenomenon to be studied, which are based on a theoretical foundation.

    Sociodemographic, cultural, and economic characteristics of women over 18 years old with abortion at Hospital Nacional Hipólito Unanue between January and October 2015

    In the present study, a methodology is used to determine the sociodemographic, cultural, and economic characteristics of women over 18 years old who had an abortion at the Hipólito Unanue National Hospital between January and October of 2015. It was revealed that the sociodemographic characteristics include: early age, cohabiting marital status, secondary education level, currently working, being from the coastal region, residing in El Agustino, and experiencing psychological family pressure due to economic instability. Additionally, the cultural characteristics highlighted include: machismo, due to the lack of partner participation in household chores, a situation unfortunately justified by the respondents; and the Catholic religion, which most respondents profess. Finally, the most notable economic characteristics are: a monthly income between 600 and 1000 soles, monthly expenses less than 600 soles, three people living in the household, no economic dependency, two family members contributing to household expenses, and living in a brick-built house.
