Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of nursing intervention in patients during an epileptic crisis to prevent permanent brain damage or sudden death(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-01-05) Pinto Llanos, Susana Milagros; Arevalo Marcos, Rodolfo AmadoOBJECTIVE: Systematize evidence on the effectiveness of nursing action in patients facing an epileptic seizure to prevent permanent brain damage or sudden death. MATERIAL AND METHOD: The study has a systematic, observational and retrospective review design; of articles with full text, which identified their grade or quality of evidence according to the Grade System. Likewise, the population was made up of 10 articles obtained from the following databases Pubmed, Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library, Dialnet, Scielo, and Lilacs. Of which 50% correspond to systematic review design and randomized clinical studies, corresponding to the countries of England in 10% (01), Ireland 10% (01), Italy 10% (01), United States 20% ( 02), Cuba 10% (01), United Kingdom 10% (01), Chile 10% (01), Germany 10% (01), and Australia 10% (01). RESULTS: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 100% demonstrate the effectiveness of nursing action in patients facing an epileptic seizure to prevent permanent brain damage or sudden death. CONCLUSIONS: 10 of the 10 evidence conclude that nursing action in patients facing an epileptic seizure is effective in preventing permanent brain damage or sudden death; Its action is framed in the period of 5 minutes, to safeguard its existence, neurological risks, physical disabilities, considering that the specialized nursing intervention improves the quality of care for the individual with epilepsy, its key role increases access to specialized services .
